This is my long term project in 1:16 scale for 3 x 70 mm EDFs in 4s configuration.

The model will be semi-composite, using Norbert Rauch foam-balsa-composite method, tail cone and nose cone will be composite, 3D printing parts are considered as well.

As of right now, the tail "cone" plug is ready for creating a mold, the nose is pending.

Engine nacelle and ducting molds are ready.

Tail S-duct is in progress. More pictures are on the way.

Bent and milled tub chassis made of 5 mm thick aluminum for extreme rigidity.

I have been flying RC since about 1980. At first, I was highly influenced by pattern flying and spent hours working on slow rolls, point rolls, etc. When 3D became popular, I scratch built a number of glow 3D profiles and learned the standard low and slow vocabulary on these, and then began working on this style with larger 3D gassers. In the last few years I've been enjoying foamies and spend a lot of time working on what I now call freestyle flying ( a combination of 3D, XA and precision) in the parks. Even though I still get to the club field at least once a week, I far prefer practicing alone with a foamie.
When it comes to skill I'm just an average duffer, but I truly enjoy trying to improve.

Oh yeah, my user name came about because I recently bought a new Harley Sportster 48. Love that bike!!!!!

For those who would like to build a sailplane setup using the FrSky Operating System on their Horus transmitter but need help getting started or want guidance applying some of the available features, this guide is for you. The approach taken is building a setup from scratch rather than a feature-by-feature description.

The guide was written with an X10s using 1.3.04 firmware and the model files attached are for that system. The Guide and sound files should apply to the X12 as well but the model.bin files will not AFIK. These files are not necessary for following the Guide.

I can consider myself a glider guider by only the loosest definition so I hope my assessment of desired behavior is close enough to be useful and that this guide will save some people time and frustration figuring things out.

EDIT: This is a new version of the files. In the original, the Demo NFM model file accidentally had a screenshot special function enabled. This can be a real help if you need images for a document but a real nuisance if you don't so it was removed. The files are otherwise the same.

Just had a blast flying my UMX Mig-15 ducted fan jet for the first time!

I had only flown very cheap planes before this, but really was only interested in this style plane for now and Iím very happy after the first flight.

Safe allowed me to slowly learn what the High rates and AS3X mode will feel like on first flight.

Highly recommend the plane, itís a joy and a cool piece of history. Just add the park flyer plastics nose and wing tips for added strength, and check all serves before flight and youíll have a great time.

Iím a complete rc plane noob by the way. Awesome.

Test Flight #1 - HK FW190 WarBird Crash #2 Repair!

I have everything repaired after my 2nd Crash with this plane.
I replaced the Motor Mount, 8x4 Prop, and installed a new Receiver.
I don't know if the original Receiver is bad or if it just had a blind spot.
The original Receiver has short antennas and the replacement has long antennas that I have well away from the electronics and obstructions.

Repairs Completed: New Motor Mount, Straightened and re-attached landing gear, replaced the Prop.

This Kit is discontinued but they still have the F6F Hellcat ;-)

I received a brand new frame from iFlight yesterday.. It's the new version of their conventional freestyle frame..
BUT.. as you might have noticed: they are allso about to release a few RTF versions based on that frame..
In this thread I'll review the frame And build the quad with the same components as the RTF will use...
