1400mm P-40 from Airfield FMS

I can't seem to get the motor mount fixed correctly without having to tear open the entire front of the plane.
the two pictures of the spinner show relative motion of the motor up/down.

I finally took apart the front end and reduced some of the motor movement. Flys well, but the motor still moves a little.

advertised CG is 85mm, which is way to far back, need it at about 70 - 75...Continue Reading

I just finished building the Clipped Wing TaylorCraft micro model! Wow, awesome model, and easy to follow directions. I screwed up only when I got ahead of the directions!
This was my first kit and first covering job. The directions are great… but… where the heck does the battery go?!
I ended up mounting the battery with Velcro under the controller, but it doesn't fit nicely.
Also, my model is tail heavy, so still need to figure out where to put some nose weight and how to get it in there.

I used the control rods for the rudder/elevator from a Hobby Zone Champ. These worked awesome and I didn't have to bend the wire myself!

I need to learn to accurately bend the landing gear wire though.

My motor mount (used from T-28 micro) was too wide for the slot area, so had to cut it down a lot. Might be prudent to check fit the motor mount after that part is built up.

I can’t wait to get this one balanced out and flying. I tried flying it as is, but was way too tail heavy and difficult to control. I could tell it is going to fly nice once I get it balanced though.

I balanced the plane using:
1) Some lead weight from a Pinewood Derby car, dropped into the nose and epoxied in.
2) Moved the 150 mah 1S battery all the way forward. It actually fits really nicely in the hole forward of the ESC/servo board.

It flies awesome!! Slow and fast, I love it!
Now I need to figure out how to make a micro P-38 or Mosquito with ailerons and retracts. I know it is doable... I am gonna have to learn to scratch build I guess!!
