The shipping container is HUGE 58" x 16" x 12" (US measurements) Mine had a small tear in it shown in the photo -
Views: 115
The carton damage did not get to the product carton inside and everything inside was in good condition -

Bottom layer was all fuselage -

The ESC comes with an EC5 connector. Works well for me since most of my 6s packs have the same -

People used to Freewing fully painted foam will find this less appealing from a cosmetics side. But with enough paint it could be made to look pretty smooth too. -

Instead of cutting up the printed manual I printed the last page of the PDF to get the elevator alignment patterns

Around 2 hours to apply all the decals for both sides of the vertical fin/rudder. -

Also got as far as adding the decals for the wings before calling it a night.

A lot of engineering went into the double layer of packaging to insure the model makes it's long trip from the factory to the proud new owner. The top layer holds the wings, engine nacelles and some other items I haven't looked at yet. -
Views: 245
The bottom layer holds the fuselage front and rear parts along wit the canopy/hatch horizontal stab and vertical fins along with more items. Wings spars, armament etc. -

This is as far as I got last night. Managed to get the water slide nose art decals on along with most of the vertical fin(s) markings. -
Views: 271
Notice the opening to the left. There should be another nacelle screw mounting piece like the one to the right. -

6/8/17 Looks kind of strange with no tail but wanted to check the wing fit. They plug in nice. I'm impressed with the fit.

2nd day in, the not so ugly duckling mode. -

New Years Eve. Green camo finished. Don't know why but the green does not cover well. Even over white primer. Took 3 coats to get it fully opaque. -

New Years Day. Tan applied. Only two coats of it to get good coverage. -

Some blue for the bottom. -

Well packaged with none of the external packaging damage making it into the actual model -

This is the 1st Freewing plug n fly model I've purchased where the main gear was not pre-installed. The reasoing being that the wheel wells are actually in the fuselage -

Two part fuselage with carbon spars on the front half that plug into the rear section when assembling -

Front and rear fuselage sections joined using the included glue.

Front and rear fuselage parts joined around 8:00 this morning. -

Some assembly required. Aluminum control horns are a nice touch. Not sure why the horns have 3 holes in them when there are only 2 holes in the elevator. -

The plastic wire keepers have to be removed before the vertical fins will fully seat into the fuselage openings. -
Views: 364
I had to do a little extra carving on the port side to make room for getting all the connectors tucked in.
-
Views: 387
Outer packaging showed no signs of damage. -
Views: 387
The inner cover and foam compartments were also in excellent condition -
Views: 330
The top compartment contains the wings, vertical fin and ordnance. -
Views: 304
All appear to be in very good condition -
Views: 311
The lower compartment holds the fuselage, nose cone, elevators (full flying stabs) afterburner ring, and assorted other parts. -
Views: 625
Per the manual, the 1st thing to be attached is the tail cone afterburner lighting. This is one of the few places where I used the included foam glue. Hoping that in the event I someday need to get it back off, I'll be able to.

Minor gouge damage on the exterior shipping box . -
Views: 370
No visible damage on the product box. -
Views: 377
Well, at least there was none visible until getting to the foam carton part. The piece where the opening dropped off when I slid the lid off. -
Views: 385
Very minor crinkle, nothing I'd see worth complaining about. -
Views: 419
Wings were individually bagged and in good shape. Minor ding in the trailing edge of the aileron for the right wing. Shouldn't hurt the flying though. -

So for the 1st step they get attached.

The inside box looked great but was a little worried when I 1st saw the shipping box. -
Views: 603
Everything was well protected in plastic. Wings, decals stabs/elevator in the upper tray -
Views: 731
Fuselage and hardware underneath. -
Views: 739
There had been reports of the vertical fin being tweaked and this one has a light touch of it as well. Nothing major though -
Views: 709
There was also mention of the wings not wanting to plug in. Mine do but very snugly. A little sanding will have to be done. -
Views: 754
A HS-654MG test fitted in place (flap servo bay) after a bit of opening the hole. Oddly enough the pre made mounting holes lined up perfectly.

The shipping box looks more like something you'd get from a home improvement store with a 60 gallon water heater in it. -

A shot of the box that came within the box at a different angle. My entertainment center behind it adds a little scale to the photo. -
Views: 531
Took me about 30 minutes to get the lid off the box working by myself since I was trying to keep it intact until the contents were checked for damage. Everything looks good at this point. Items individually bagged and padded with light foam.
