I got this kit from BH, the kit version for $159 plus tax (free shipping) and got at at my front door tow days later

https://www.bananahobby.com/12-ch-bl...f-jet-kit.html

The kit is lightweight styrofoam and made in China by Lanxiang.

I ordered the Su-47 Berkut previously (as a kit as well) so I'm well aware of all the modifications that will be needed to turn it into a flyable (and enjoyable) model.

Here's how I set up the twin 70 Su-47 Berkut (kit version) :

https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...DF-(LX)&pp=100

and here's how I set up the twin Su-35 Super Flanker by Freewing (arf plus version) :

https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...df-70mm&pp=100

The current Su-57 one will get a pair of excellent FMS inrunner fans, I have those already, balanced and ready to go :

https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...EDF-fan&pp=100

This is an older (~2015) kit that is nevertheless very lightweight (expected rtf weight ~3.2kg) , as opposed for ex to that new FMS/EFl Su-30 epo brick (4.2kg).

This video is a detailed Unboxing of the E-flite Su-30 Twin 70mm EDF Jet. This is the BNF Basic with AS3X & SAFE Select version of this jet.

Detailed Unboxing Of The E-flite Su-30 Twin 70mm EDF Jet (12 min 3 sec)

Here are the review notes for this Sukhoi EDF Jet:

Pros:

- The assembly was straight forward
- Teardown will be easy at the field for easy transport
- The paint job is really nice
- The air brake is a really cool scale touch
- Bright lights
- Nice retracts with good suspension

Cons:
- The little antennas already added on. For those of us trying to transport it in smaller cars, those are going to cause headaches
- The tail piece should have come magnetic out of the box like the nose cone for easier transport.
- The elevator on one side moved easier than the other.

Ran a dulling experiment on gray mirror-gloss Monokote this afternoon.

1. Steel wool 0000 was barely noticeable.

2. Wet sanding #400 grit sandpaper was mottled over sheeting and slightly better over openings that were covered. Scotchbrite pads may be even better.

3. Best today was the Krylon matte spray finish, but will it last? (I do plan to chip, add panel lines, weather, and seal with matte spray.)

What has been your experience, especially over time?

My concern is spraying over Monokote which can shrink or swell in adverse temperatures and crack the finish.

Simple OpenTx for FPV Quad pilots 🤩

Some FPV quad pilots may be relatively new to FPV OR are transferring over from other operating systems to OpenTX and are unfamiliar with what it is, how it works, and how to use its features. It CAN be a steep learning curve yet doesn’t have to be!
Short video streamlines OpenTx for FPV Quad pilots with basics & essentials demonstrated.
Concept of OpenTX info flow demystified so you can implement features on your own! 👌

NOTE: At about the 3:15 time hack mark I speak of binding the receiver in DI16 mode. "Props" to Roger Hughes for reminding me that "Please note that viewers do not necessarily want to select D16 for FrSky with the muti protocol module. If you try this in Europe it will not bind. You have to scroll on passed D16 to either LBT(EU) or LBT (8 chan) for D16 in the EU"

Turning & burning with a Freewing F-14 Tomcat via head-tracking FPV in a FMS PC-21. I could barely keep pace pegging full power from the start while the Tomcat was only at half power. Still, it was a lot of fun and seeing the Tomcat in the air is like recreating TOP GUN.

Yep Les Amis,

(36 min 17 sec)

NOTATAZ : 18/20 Complet et Efficace !

Niveau : Bricoleur ! lol
Les + : Complet, HDD 2To intégré, Facile à paramétrer, Très sécurisé
Les - : Passage des câbles fastidieux...

A true 4ch Micro ... ( 1s ) with stability .

A) Protocol (?)

Yeah , no idea folks . I ran thru all the protocols available on the Jumper T12 Tx and no bind . This is a shame as I think a Hobby Grade Tx just might do wonders for such a small plane .

B) Transmitter

Not complete rubbish , the Tx does seem to offer better than the usual fare of control .

C) The Plane ( Boss )

Not bad , comes fully assembled except for the landing gear which needs to be plugged in ( easy ) . Only issue was that things ( landing gear ) was not very straight . Even the tail wheel was pointed somewhere other than straight . ( Not the end of the world ) But a little bit of straightening was needed as well as a little glue . I took the Cub out in the back yard less battery and gave it a chuck ! I was simply amazed by how well it glides . Without battery CG looks to be about 40% back from the LE . Speaking of batteries , I should have some to play with in my collection .

It's a little breezy right now , but hopefully the wind will ease off for the evening . ( I hope ) So might be able to get in a flight ?

Volantex Sport Cub 500mm 4ch ( Maiden Flight ) (5 min 8 sec)

Wow !
Flew right out of the box !
And I was actually flying @ minimum throttle ( As low as it would go )

A) It flies out of the box
B) After about 5 minutes battery was 3.92v
C) It will fly slow , really slow .
D) It can fly relatively quick as well
E) It is...Continue Reading

Making the Scene a bit more interesting. Glossy floors.

To do:

Remove shine from tyres. (not good for cross wind landings on a wet runway)
Fix normals on rear retract covers. (was fine in blender render but Daz Studio picks up everything)
Make the glass transparent to see the seats inside.

This was 16 minutes to 87% so a vast improvement on render times.

I think i'll render a few before posting again rather than 1 per post

I appreciate the comments.

Onto adding Camera Focus.

And my fav Pipistrel Panthera in the background. See it better once i have the focuse settings correct.

I think she's getting bored of standing in the one place for long periods of time

or that's a look of contemp?

A very complex involved process but i think the end result is going to be great and will certainly feature my favorite plane

The Ardupilot team have announced an update due a critical I2C Storm bug being found in some versions of Ardupilot.

More Info https://discuss.ardupilot.org/t/copt...or-older/50130

In Copter versions 3.6.10 and Plane 3.9 or earlier thisI2C bug has the possibility to cause an Autopilot to lock up mid flight.

It is advised all users Upgrade Copter to 3.6.12 and Plane users install Plane 4.0 or later.

The Dev team state

Copter-3.6.12 has been released as the official default software for MultiCopters and Helicopters.

For those flying 3.6.10 (or earlier) the upgrade is Critical to avoid possible lockups due to I2C storms. These situations are rare but we have seen enough of them that we strongly recommend upgrading.

For those flying 3.6.11, your vehicle is probably safe but we still recommend upgrading to 3.6.12 because it includes a fix to another rare case of I2C storm lockups caused by extreme interference on the bus. We have one reported case which involved a serial port inadvertently connected to an I2C port.

The upgrade from earlier versions of 3.6.x should be relatively painless with no re-calibrations required unless you see pre-arm checks prompting you to do so.

The two new changes in 3.6.12 are in the ReleaseNotes 6 and copied below.

Fix ChibiOS I2C DMA error
COMPASS_SCALE param to allow manual correction of compass scaling
The second issue allows users to work around a compass scaling issue with the Hex Here2 GPS/compass unit. The Here2 compass unit’s scaling is off by about 17% meaning setting COMPASS_SCALING = 1.17 should improve accuracy. The accuracy can be checked before and after this change by:

fly the vehicle in any mode but ensure the flight includes chaning the vehicle’s heading
download the dataflash log and check the NKF4.SM values which are the compass’s “innovations” (the difference between the expected values and actual values). Lower is better so hopefully Here2 users will see lower values after setting the COMPASS_SCALING value to 1.17.
Note: beta testing of Copter-4.0.0-rc3 will resume next monday (Dec 16th).
