I guess we are just bored and sick of this ZMR 250 platform and as much as I really like this full carbon fiber frame and don't wanna put it to waste, I decided to convert it to something else. I have seen guys converting it to a TRICOPTER and Y4 and I don't remember seeing a VTAIL, maybe one did but, I have not seen it.
This ZMR250 frame is very versatile and converting it is pretty simple and here is mine converted it to a VTAIL and she can fly really nice and acro flying is pretty amazing too.

Well, 3DR SOLO Platform can fly really nice too with a KK2.1.5.
flight controller. Not much to say, this project is about a non-working 3DR Solo quad that a friend gave me,gutted all the inside and installed a KK2 FC on it with Sunnysky motors and all original lights connected it looks ok and fun to fly too and I can't complain.

I got this frame a while ago from RCG Classified with the plan to install a Mini KK2 fc on it.
Gutted all the original parts inside to minimize the weight and to be able the frame to accept the KK2 Mini and it went pretty well. This size of a Vtail is really interesting to me and this one is really a nice and fun to fly too.

NOTE :
If you are on this hobby that long, we all know that VTAILS are different. Changing props size or flying with 4S from 3S will need some or little adjustment to the fc PID's but, if you are lucky depending on your platform size, sometimes no adjustment is needed. Just be aware and don't think that your fc or electronics is going bad when it acts not normal after changing prop size or lipo cell count.

Got all this parts doing nothing and decided to build another Y6. Weather been crazy here in California and I need something to fly that can at least fight the wind which is the norm over here lately making the minis useless. MTM @ 23.5 " and 16mm CF booms with Sunnysky X2212-13 and 25A Mantis BL Heli Esc's set up on a custom cut double stage Aluminum frame with 700 heli LG . Modified GF motor mounts to accept 2 motor set-up.

Here is another simple project for everyone can build. It's a Tricopter Boomtwist yaw system with a 2nd servo installed to drive the 2 front motors to tilt forward and back on Elevator stick command. This system has given the platform the next level performance and making it more fun to fly.

Bearings are used to give the smoothest boom action , 2 in the front and 2 for the yaw system, using a 16mm Carbon Fiber tube to make the platform light as possible with a twin custom cut Aluminum frame. NEW Sunnysky X2212-13 KV980 to get the best motor performance driven by Maytec 20A BL Heli fw (Mini ESC's). Glass Fiber motor mounts and TGY 225MG Metal gear servos. Here is a kind of quad that I was so fascinated since it came out on the market. It's PARTICULARLY on how it fly on FFF straight horizontally.One might think that it's because of it's tilting motors but, NO. It's all about how it's been set-up on your TX and not because of what FC you are using.This is where the TARANIS Tx comes in, where the sky is the limit when it comes to special programming.

VECTORQuads recommends to use an FC that I have ZERO Knowledge like those Naze or Flip fc's and they provide the -how to guide- to program them and this is the part that I was devastated . I have concentrated on the KK2's on this hobby and have like 5-10% failure since I started last 2012. I really want to build one so I tried my luck to look for guidance and help on YT and thinking this Naze/Flip fc's will be a challenge for me.

With LUCK on my side, the first person that I contacted for help which happened to be on my YT Circle of subscribers offered to help and I was so amazed that he (Moochasas) even made a Taranis tx programming video for me. What an AMAZING GUY. Without his video,I am surely still out there in the dark on this project.

PROBLEM:
Moochasas recommend to use the FLIP32 F4 fc and with my zero knowledge on it, I was like this is a BIG problem and I really need to learn it if I want this project to be successful.

As much as I really like TRICOPTERS , my favorite is the BOOMTWIST Style yaw system. It's more smoother and precise and this one is no exception. The 16mm CARBON FIBER tail boom goes and ride into a DUAL 16mm ID bearings and with New SunnySKYV2216-12 KV 800 motors making it one of the most smooth flying machine and with 10" Carbon Fiber props, it's just perfect.

Bought this kit a waaayy lonngg time ago and remembered it after a friend of mine (Blacky's Boy)posted his unit in the " Show me your Tricopter" thread. Hunt for it and found it and built it. Really interesting platform, it's one of those boomtwist system that the whole tail boom rotate....I think you know what I mean.

Yes, I lied 'bout the last 2016 build. I was just bored and was having extra time for some build on Christmas Day and with the some SunnySky X2207S 2100 KV and some MAYTech Mini 20 A Esc' on hand it's just a perfect mixture for a new mini tri. This is a forgotten TRI frame on hand and just did a modification on the front boom into a 16mm carbon fiber and it did work pretty well.

Here is an idea that came out from nowhere and I was totally ready to fail and accept failure but, to my surprised-it did flew with a day worth of patience. I made /built a TowerTRICOPTER a while back and it did flew....and why not build a TOWERQuad , right ?

With more time to tweak this one, this should be a nice and fun flyer. This will be the last build (maybe) for 2016 and hope 2017 will bring more interesting ideas for me and for all of us to enjoy.

Here is a weekend fun build of a 14 inches mini tricopter made out of laying around catching dust parts.
She is a screamer and I think it's flying ok with RC911 R4 SL MIX with ALL DEFAULT settings xcept the SS are all bump up for acro flying and sensor settings to 2000.

Using affordable electronics from HK and all the fun building it and flying it is what this hobby is all about.

Here is my version of a CHINOOK SCALE ALUM. BODY with a MINI KK2.1.5 FC. It's a challenge to build and servo placement was a little tricky but,possible and I thinks it's working.

Just having fun with this interesting project with NO application in mind. Got inspired by You Tube's MClay, a really smart builder .
This is my version which is not even close to near perfect but,it shows that it's possible and we can save lots of $$$$ if we can make this project in perfect smooth spinning motion.
Lower motor stops early due to a drag for the bearings on the hub is mis-aligned .Needs precision drilling to obtain a perfect no drag action.

PURPOSE FOR THIS PROJECT:

TO PROVE IF THE KK2.0 / KK2.1 / KK2.1.5 SINGLECOPTER 1M-4S DEFAULT MOTOR LAY-OUT AND FIRMWARE IS TRUE AND DO FLY.

RESULT : SUCCESS

I jump on this project with ZERO KNOWLEDGE ON VTOL....so don't shoot me down.

I was thinking this is a simple project but, I am having issues and taking longer to set-up....LOL.

I am a newbie on this kind of platform and NOT SURE if this design of mine is capable of flying.

UPDATE:
It tries to hover but, the whole platform spins on the air and I HAVE NO CONTROL of it.
