Well today is Christmas 2016 I have done pretty well this year ...
I had thought my older DX7 helicopter version DSM2 was dying so I started looking for a replacement ...
I already had my JRXP9503 2.4 on DSM2 and a JR DSMX12X as my main radios so the DX7 was just a backup and mainly used for my indoor and micro models .
Not wanting to be left behind I started searching for a deal on a DX18G2 so I would be able to use telemetry in the future as I have moved over to mostly electric aircraft with a few gasoline powered larger craft .
One fine day while searching I was at my local hobby shop and was offered a NIB DX9 that someone had purchased but had never even been used got it for $250 .
So I was told by the wife that was to be my Christmas present ,but I continued the search and found a low hour DX18G2 with a case that I made a deal on for $600.00 delivered to me .
So after knowing that I would be ok no mater what happened to the DX7 I opened it up and started checking things out only to determine that the only thing wrong with it seems to be that the battery has failed or has a bad cell as it full charges and works for a few minutes then acts up . I replaced the battery and it now is working great again .
Well I just got done registering both of my new transmitters I still need to make sure I am sure I understand how to go about doing the Airware and sound file updates on the new radios then I will need to start moving models over to the new transmitters .
Guess once I get everything sorted out and moved around I will have a couple transmitters for sale DX7 , and JRXP9503 2.4 just hard to see keeping 5 radios around .

Hope everyone gets what they wanted and has a great New Year and an excellent 2017 flying season !!

The Yamaha RH5M's are still the best of the best, despite Beats's $3 billion valuation & 30 years of advancements. They were discontinued long ago, yet there seem to be a few lying around for a price. The ear pads showed the 1st signs of crumbling after only 5 years. After 30 years, they were quite disintegrated. There wasn't any free stuff for XMas, but new ear pads arrived. The Yamaha's take Sennheiser HD25 ear pads.

They've seen a few resolderings & the oxygen free cable has gotten shorter. The limiting factor is the plastic becoming brittle. Being immersed in an oily environment like the mane & the face has kept them going longer than other plastic.

Notes for impatient people!
- Do NOT run the stock ESC with 3s. It WILL burn!
- This is NOT a beginner plane! it is extremely stable in calm air, but does not take crashes particularly well in its stock form!
- If you want the plane, buy it as a kit. The stock ESC is rubbish, the prop, and servos are rubbish.

I was very interested in this model, because I have not seen anything in this size with such a low weight. Having been bitten by the thermalling bug, I took the plunge and ordered it for the good of the RC Modelling community even though it has/had no reviews at that current time.

I was once a CP heli nut (Hence my username), but since I flew my first plane, the Hisky HFW400, I was hooked. I flew that tiny plane since last Christmas several times a week, but I since decided to move up.
(Since then I have also flown a Bixler 3 so I have limited experience with larger planes for comparison.)
I wanted a good gliding floater that wasn't too big, so I poked around and found this! After some unnervingly fast shipping from Banggood, my plane arrived in time for Christmas!

The plane was well protected in a double box.

The box included a tube of glue, the plastic assembly parts, the Aileron servo, a ton of screws, Linkages and fasteners, some fruity stickers, an instruction manual, a little card reporting the passing of QC, and of course all the bits of your plane. (Which I had already assembled.)

Today I got to meet up with the cool East Bay Boys from for their Christmas Eve Fun Fly Meet at Ohlone College in Newark, CA:

I started my first flight of the day with my UMX Beast 3D on 3S, using Roger's Hyperion 3S 240mAh Babbelbatts (Thanks for posting Foamyflyerr):

Derrick (Blaze) flying his E Flite Beast on 3S (3 min 4 sec)

Later, I was surprised and very honored when they handed me the sticks to fly one of their large QQ Extra 300 3D / Aerobats for the special occasion! What a sweetheart of a plane.

As we grow older and things change, some things never change, like my childhood bedroom. Some 30+ years after sortiing to the skies above my childhood bed, the epic battles are still raging. P-38s jumping Me-262s which are homing in on B-17s, P-47s vs FW-190s, P-51s taking on Zeros. Sure, the planes are covered in dust, and many have broken/missing prop blades or are missing props/spinners altogether. Even that JU-87 is still streaming smoke after all of these years! Will it never crash????

Now, 30+ years later, I'm still building WWII fighters, but now I can actually fly them. As we all know, the only difference between a man and a boy is the price of his toys.

So the other day I wasnt thinking and I put my Accucel-6 on top of my field battery. Wouldnt have been so bad except that it touched both battery posts and fried the dang thing. Still starts up but now it wont charge so I swapped over to my other Accucel-6 and am currently planning on how to make it a little more "Less failure prone."

I finished building the FliteTest Fokker DR1 the other day and its pretty fun build. Its not overly complicated but I did manage to burn myself only one time . Looks somewhat decent and I imagine it flies great but as for now its benched till I get some free time. Only real thing it needs is a black prop to make me happy. I plan on seeing if I can get some guns 3D printed and install some FPV gear to make it a little more fun.

I have a quadcopter with APM 2.6, an Emax 4in1 ESC, and a 5 channel Turnigy RC setup. After arming it, every motor responds to throttle increase normally, except motor 2. Motor 2 increases/decreases throttle speed when the throttle stick moves up and down normally, but the movement of the Aileron from side to side also effects the throttle. Any ideas of how I can get rid of this? Many thanks for any responses!

The Taranis Q X7 has landed in the FCC Database and it looks amazing. I go through the documentation in this blog post and take a look at the various features, including speech output, logging (via SDCard) and quad bearing gimbals.

I also take a look at the internals to see what we can learn.
