I first started successfully flying R/C airplanes when I joined the Southern New Hampshire Flying Eagles club back in 1989. I say that because in 1988 I tried to learn R/C on my own with a Duraplane that a local hobby shop owner sold me on. Needless to say that didn't work out so well. I think my longest flight time was about 10 seconds. I would later fly the Duraplane once I had soloed with my first trainer, a Avitar 40 from Hobbico.

I couldn't wait to rip into the box to see Flyzone's newest edition, the FW-190.

My first impressions is this is a REALLY COMPLETE model with very nice scale details. The best I've seen on an EPO foam aircraft to date.

Last year my PT-19 had a receiver glitch on the maiden flight that resulted in a crash. It sat in the corner of my workshop for almost a year before I decided to repair the damage. The motor mount took most of the damage but the wing spar & a few ribs needed fixing. Last night I got everything fixed and I planned on taking it up for a shake-down flight at our club field this evening, but a non-functioning elevator servo meant it would have to wait for another day. Too bad, as the weather conditions were perfect

Here are a few picks of the repaired wing (before & after covering).

I got this idea after watching some youtube videos of Alaskan bush planes doing STOL competitions.

I love the big fat tires on these planes and it reminded me of the Trexler inflatable tires I have lying around somewhere.

So, I picked up the airframe parts for the HZ Super Cub and some Krylon paint & started to get to work.

The first step was to take out the dihedral in the wing, since I plan on adding ailerons & flaps.

Got the wing halves joined last night. Now it's on to the sheeting!

Not quite sure what I'm going to power it with yet, but I'm leaning towards a Phasor 45-3 (primarily because I have one & a Jeti esc just lying around with nothing to do

Found a few pictures I took of my second successful entry into electric powered R/C (the first being the Ikarus Bleriot II from Hobby Lobby). These pics were taken at Newfound Lake in Bristol, NH. I added a pair of homemade foam floats covered with 3M spray 77 and plastic grocery bags. They worked out rather well. My niece Heather loved the Pooh bear and Piglet pilots I added from PEZ dispensers.

A picture of me after the maiden flight of my Parkzone Wildcat (my new favorite plane ). Here are a few pics of my mod to the stock mount which allows me to use the Super Tigre .10 motor. A great motor for this plane IMHO.
