How to Escape a Drone Crash (ViFly with SQ12 HD Camera) featuring "Diary of Me" by Mahalia Burkmar (1 min 58 sec)

No-one likes to crash
But w-t-f!
Don’t matter to me.
A ‘lill bounce backwards?
And all is okay
How about a shake and a spin
Or Brian-Lobotomy?
Let’s try to drift in reverse again
Yeah put that on TV

How to update or remove the date/time stamp:
The camera will write a text-file to the sd card (20150101235530 / yyyymmddhhmmss) that can be corrected with a text editor.
If you don't want the date timestamp to appear on your video simply change 'Y' to 'N' (No) and save to sd card.

A test edit of a short flight filmed in the winter on an overcast day and edited with Adobe Premier Pro. As you can see it was shot in a lovely fallow field at the back of Belmont’s Children’s Farm in Barnet near London. It was a nice find and luckily The Waffle Café located is nearby and beside the Farm Shop where one can warm frozen fingers on a winter’s day. 👍🏽 👍🏽
Definitely worth checking out and remember that although the land is fallow try to fly from beside the pathway and only collect your drone if it crashes into a field 😎

How do you create that 'Cinema Feel' with a cheap HD Camera on a lightweight racing drone?

What a result in the winter sun at a new spot near Wembley Stadium with a $10 HD SQ12 Quelima Camera on a sub 250g ViFly R130 FPV freestyle drone!

Remove duplicate frames and then blend with the only colour change to select CineLook in Adobe. That works nicely on a bright day with no need to change the tints or highlights so a 10 minute job after the editing of raw footage is complete.

I'm still liking the Quelima SQ12 until something better is released in the same price range. Unfortunately, the Mobius Mini is too heavy so next maybe the Runcam Micro Swift or perhaps the Runcam Nano (5g)? It would be great to have a cheap camera that has a sensor that doesn't produce a black sun 😎

A winter visit in January to the National Trust Snowshill Manor and Garden in the Cotswolds near Chipping Campden with the ViFly R130 with Quelima SQ12 HD camera.

A nice short video test of the SQ12 versus the stock Vifly 700TVL CMOS camera taken in windy conditions. The results from each camera produce a very different feeling but neither are as satisfactory as a Mobius Mini, Runcam or GoPro. However, for £10 it seems like a cheap solution for a mini quad.

So, is it worth buying the Quelima SQ12?
Only if you have a video editor as the raw footage suffers from frame lag and a lack of colour!

Question: Who would purchase the Quelima SQ12 for a sub 250g drone?

Well it weighs 16 grams with sq11 mount if you take the camera out of the box! That is a good reason if you have a small quad.

If you have the time to use a video editor the original SQ12 footage can be greatly improved from the original output. Once the CMOS camera output is edited there is less of a difference in the feel of the 2 videos but the colours are more defined and vibrant on the lightweight SQ12 with a larger FOV. However, with the extra weight will your flight be less enjoyable?

Conclusion: As the cheapest HD camera on the market it is worth buying the SQ12 especially as it sharper and has a larger field of view but it is better if you have a video editor to improve the stock image. With the FPV cameras improving all the time it will not be long before the SQ12 will be obsolete but in the meantime it is a cheaper and lighter solution than the Mobius Mini.

Is it worth buying the lightweight Quelima SQ12 for a sub 250g quad?

Verdict:
The raw video output of the Vifly CMOS 700LVT camera is far more impressive than the SQ12 standard video. The only improvement without editing the footage is a wider field of view.
