Well, working two jobs and being a full time single dad for the past two (and the next two) months does not leave much room for this beloved hobby. I cannot hide in my basement headquarter to build anything. So I guess this is the design season!

I designed this one with inspiration from Bell XV3, which is supposed to be a VTOL. Planning to use OpenAero VTOL on KKboard as the controller.

Done with design and the plans are ready. Just have to wait for two months to start building.

This one is a carry over from last year. The iconic long narrow wings looked kinda cool so I decided to build one.

I'm almost done with the design and all tabs are in place. I just need to flatten the parts and start building.

Let's see how long it takes me to do it!

After the good experience of scaling down my Sonex design to 20 inch wing span, I decided to do it again.

I found the Pluto plans and got hooked on it. It was a good candidate to scale down which I did. Pretty simple and straight forward build too.

The original plan can be found here: http://www.rcflug.ch/plans/detail.php?pid=832

This time I removed the paper from $Tree foam and reinforced it with clear and colored packing tape. A whole lot easier and shinier than painting. AUW came out as 180gr which was a surprise and the good news is that I do not have to deal with registration!

On a 2500kv motor, 10A Esc, 450mAh 3s battery and a 4025 prop I got a max current draw of around 5A and 70w max power.

Maiden flight went almost well with one mishap while trimming. Very fun to fly but not ballistic like my Sonex (Pulling verticals was still easy but not as fast). I will try it with a 4030 or 5030 to see what happens.

On the side note, I was amazed how it glided on a dead stick.

I got a soft spot for this plane after watching a documentary on Falklands war a long long time ago. Probably among the most beautiful twins in my opinion.

So I decided to design and build one out of foam. It will be more boxy with the foam but I'm hoping to get some of the visual aspects right.

Let's see how it goes.

P.S. : The first three posts were long due for this build - which is about two month old and still in progress.

2015 was a good year, but I managed to design more planes than I can build. Only 4 has been built so far so I think I'll be busy building this year!...Continue Reading

This came out as a project made up of salvaged parts from other projects. Surprisingly a great flier. Very stable and fun to fly.

Planning to make a new fuselage with longer nose. I have to use a lot of ballast to balance it as the nose moment is non-existent with this configuration.

Plans to come by shortly!

This is said to be a relatively cheap fighter on T-38 platform. It is a good looking plane, so I've decided to go for a profile version.

Let's see how it goes!

This one caught my eyes in EAA Air Venture and it was too cute to ignore it!

Guess will be rolling my sleeves up and build an RC version.
