Set up my hot wire cutter. Practiced with some scrap pink foam I had. This thing had been run over and been used as a cutting pad. Only 1/2" thick so laminated two pieces together. Here's the results. I think this was a pw51 airfoil.



Gotta work on the wire skills.



I had turned off the wire and then realized the wire was still in the foam. I have it set up with a dimmer switch that's pushed to turn on. Cool vibration when the juice is applied.

Started my build on a low wing twin in the shape of a Cessna 310. Going to use dollar tree foam and techniques used by experimentalairlines. Will use an armin wing and a tube inside the fuselage.

Saw schraut5 on youtube making a funjet clone, I had previously made his 30" and 40" wings, so I wanted to try this one out too.

I wanted to try it out with an armin wing, so I drew out the plans and copied the wing portion onto some paper.


I made a mirror image so I could cut out a wing to fold over.

Using bits from a Great Planes micro sabre.
What I had after its last crash


Used dollar tree foam for a new wing. Kept the paper on for strength. Kfm2 airfoil.

I wanted to use my foam wing cores for my slow stick on a full fuse plane and saw tony65x55's foam Pawnee design so here I go with the build. I think the longest part of the build will be the monobloc. It's supposed to be two inches thick and I'm using half inch foam.

Seemed easy enough. So off to the Dollar Tree I went for foam board. Then off to Home Depot for some pink foam. Unfortunately none of the local Home Depots have em. I have two in the area and the only pink stuff they have is the fluffy kind that gets pumped into the walls. Good thing I had some extra blue stuff. They were the beds from the steelhead wing cores I bought for my slow stick.

Scoreboard 2x48x96. I had a four 24x12 beds.

Went to an army surplus store with someone who wanted to get boots. Saw a bunch of these sitting up front so I picked one up. A little extra safety for the lipos in the garage. Right now they're just sitting in a clay pot with the saucer as a lid.

I'm getting parts together for a tricopter. Sold off the MaxiR which will help with the tricopter budget. I am going to base my build off of dadde's tricopter. Now to get some parts.

I need to step back and go up a notch at a time instead of what I did the first go around, so I picked up Hummingbird at an LHS. I have a budget lipo from commonsenserc that I held onto from the honeybee days. I also have two gforce lipos from valuehobby coming in the mail. I also need to pick up some Anderson powerpoles and I'll be set to take this bird up in the air.

New toy. Actually not so new. I've had it for almost a month now. Been flying it every day and getting better stick time than any of my other birds since it's so durable. I've run it straight into walls and it's still flying. I've only had to replace blade grips because the threads got loose and would just pop with any contact, other than that they were still very serviceable grips.

A few months ago I was at Pegasus Hobbies picking up parts for the compy after a crash. Was looking at their display and saw a Slow Stick kit box. Was only about $30 so I picked it up along with the other parts. Fast forward a few months and I'm finally getting the parts to start the build. So far I've got:
The brushed motor kit (red)
Cheap Suppo motor and esc combo from lightflightrc. Suppo 2208-14 with 18A esc
AR6100 receiver
10x4.7 slow flyer prop
Prop saver (from hobby people, the kids in the shop had no idea what a prop saver was, had to describe it to them)
Sling shot tube to make extra bands for the prop saver
Dubro EZ connector
Music wire
Picked up a z bend plier too
2.5 inch diameter wheels
1 inch diameter wheel for the tail

And some parts from radicalrc in their slow stick hop up section:
Adjustable motor mount for thrust correction
Millenium rc x gear landing gear and tail gear
Rrc metal motor mount
Control horns set

I have a couple of bms306bb servos that I plan on using if they're still good. One was going out when I was using it on the compy, but I think it was because the case was nudged open in a crash. Maybe it works now. But if not, I'll pick up a couple of hs55 servos.

I also have 3s 20 c 1300mAh lipos that I plan on using for the bird.

Got a great deal on the classifieds for a used MaxiR. It arrived today. Had to wait a whole hour to open it but I tore into the box. Also came with a ton of extra parts. Got a DX7 . Woo hoo. Got a deal on just the transmitter, battery, and charger. Now off to read the manual to see what all these knobs and thingymabobbers are for.

This will be my first kit build so it'll be a nice learning experience. Just looking at that bag full of screws is a little intimidating. So I have my mini screwdriver set, threadlock, needlenose pliers, and a blade just in case. This is the 4th step in my heli flying experience. Started when a friend of mine planted the seed of a cheap flyable heli from Target. It was the havoc heli, or picooz. Then I stumbled into these forums by googling the havoc heli. Then after a week of flying it non stop, I wanted to have control of my heli. Mainly I wanted to learn how to hover, the picooz just couldn't do it. Plus I wanted complete control. So I searched this forum and read many good things about the honey bee fp. Got that, along with some csrc lipos. That was the second step of my journey. The third step was upgrading the hbfp. Trimmed the blades, went dd. Then I seriously wanted to get the freestyle kit for the belt drive tail, but the esd issues discussed in the forums with spektrum gear steered me towards the compy fp bd. And here it is. 4th step. A kit. Let the build begin.

I opened the box and in it were three smaller boxes. Box 1 had the canopy, and head pieces. And the reason I got the deluxe package, the cnc parts! Box 2 had the tail shaft, the blades, and blade holders. Box 3 had the rest of the kit.

I took it home and ripped it open. Only a brown box inside, with a small description.

My Compy arrived today, actually, the USPS tried to deliver it on Thursday and Friday but I couldn't sign for it, so I picked it up yesterday from the post office. When I saw the green box, I thought to myself, that's small, and when they handed it to me, it's light! I'm not missing parts am I?
