Just wanted to post my current set up for longe range flying. Very mobile and very comfortable and hope it inspires people to get out and fly why we still can!

Been a bit since I posted anything on here. This is a nice Long Range chase/dance with the BSNF getting up close and personal along the way!

Been playing and learning the creative design software that came with it. Flying has been slow so I have been learning something new. Here are a few designs i have put together.

My second VAS Chimera. Just as amazing as the 1st one was!

Bought it in February and finally got to the assembly table this month! Maidan went well......but it is true......the Mini Talon not likes but LOVES a long Fast approach! Just some fine tuning, attach the pan & tilt set up and it will be out some distance on a regular basis.

Man this wing is a ton of fun to fly low-proximity obstacle dodging mayhem with! So agile and nimble that it always leaves you smiling!

Twisted Zorro (5 min 54 sec)

Having never flown a wing before and not exactly thrilled with the idea of the Madian of my VAS Chimera bing my first experience(too big and too many dollars invested). I settled on the Zorro being my starter wing. Its a 35 inch EPP wing. I used 5mm lam on the leading edge of the wings and just a bit on the hinge points. Ideally you would use small fpv equipment on this wing but I had 2 objectives when I bought the wing. The first was to use it to get wing flight and launch experience and the second to use existing fpv equipment i already had from my quads and planes.

Too my surprise it handled the weight just fine on the stock set up. I had a nice pod design where the camera and vtx w/antenna all fit on the battery door. I ultimately settled for moving the vtx back off the door for a more balanced feel.

I really enjoy flying and trying to squeeze this wing into all the places i put my 250 quad! The added protection of the 5mm lam on the leading edges of the wings sees to it that i don't regret putting this wing in harms way!

Great little wing!

This VAS Micro Wraith is made too be an obsticle dodger. I know its ready for the challenge, I just hope my reflexes are! What was really appealing is you can take most spare parts for a typical 250-270 size quad too complete it.. Was able to use my 1400 3s lips, spare quad speedo, motor and 5.8 video system. Actually the 5.8 video system is pod like and is very interchangeable for my smaller wings. Today is maiden day so off we go!

Now with the maiden over, a few flights to get the hand launching technique down and it trimmed out. Cruising in my chimera is pretty nice. Settles in at a cruising speed of 45-65mph and plenty of Getty up and go when you stretch its legs out. On this trip I settled for 79mph and there was more. It was fun to get out and see the neighborhood(farm fields for miles). Here are just a few interesting pics from the day! Pretty amazing wing from VAS(IBCRAZY). Great experience building it and its tuff as nails!

Well today was the day and long over due. The maiden went very smooth to my delight and the landing was perfect. Now just a few final adjustments, one more test flight and it will be ready for full FPV Fun!

These Pics are from a flight I squeezed in on 1st of February. Had to wait for the fog to burn off and low and behold the train was coming throw so I decided to check it out! Probably the 3rd flight I had this year with this plane and was just really gonna get a feel for it when the train came along.

I have been constantly learning FPV over the last two years via reading, internet forums and all around trail and error. I now have 2 new planes that I am excited about flying and learning from.

I started with my old apprentice that i learned on. It was just sitting collecting dust. So i spent late 2014 and 2015 maximizing it's potential for fpv. I live rurally and about 5-7 miles to a town in all directions. Well once i got my fpv feet under me I was able to pretty much reach the edges of those towns. The nice thing is I have miles and miles of corn fields to fly over and below 400 feet without and fpv issues. Hundreds of flight later it was time to move on from the apprentice. Such a great and forgiving plane regarding any mistakes made landing it on less then ideal situations. The stock motor and equipment held up for hundreds of miles. Pretty damn amazing!

The first is a used Finwing Penguin that I bought from a fellow REGROUPS member that I drove over 2 hours to get late in 2014. That was when I knew I had problem(LOL). It was lightly used and price was right. I have flown it a few times already and its really a nice plane. I have placed a vector flight control in it, a pan/tilt set up and will start with an 8000mah battery. I am hoping this will improve my range and flight time. Once winter lets up I will get after testing it.

The second is VAS Chimera that I built from new. Learned a lot and I am excited to maiden it soon. It will also have a vector and have two 4500 mah 4 cell packs on board. Look for this to be fast and efficient. I am very happy with how it turned out. I do have to admit that I like flying planes that i have ZERO emotional attachment too. Meaning I have little time invested so if it crashes..oh well. I have so many hours in this one that I might shed a tear if it crashes hard! LoL
