I thought I would share my build with you, this is my second ever scratch build, I of course made some modifications to my Piper like many of you, mostly because I used what I had laying around the shop. I picked up the plans here https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=778768

It all started when I doubled up on the EPP foam and used 2 sheets of 6mm for the fuselage and wing. Then I used some old wire landing gear struts for the landing gear with some small foam tires I had in my hobby box I had a second identical piece of landing strut laying around so I flipped it upside down and used it for the Wing supports. I was feeling creative so I added some ailerons as I went. With all the mods I thought it might be a good idea do some structural reinforcement as well... so I added a 2mm carbon rod the full length of the fuselage in between the 2 sheets of 6mm EPP and I added a 1.5 mm rod the full length of the underside of the wing right behind the airfoil and to make the rudder a bit more rigid I added a flat carbon rod to the underside of it close to where the control horn attaches.

As you can see with the extra weight I started thinking I might need a bit more unf .... so my piper is a bit more souped up than most: again I used what I had on hand for the electrics and that is a Emax 2805 with a Phoenix 25 ESC, my system will accept either a 2s or 3s 1000mah lipo, pretty much the identical system I use in my first scratch build an EPP F-22 pusher...Continue Reading

This is my first ever scratch build an EPP F-22. I picked up the plans from here. https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=740049 I have to say I am really glade I decided to work on a scratchbuild project. I am a pretty green pilot and working through this build really helped me understand the workings of a plane, electrics, props and how they all work wth the radio.

I took my time and pretty much followed the plans to the letter. I even used the recommended electrics. I maidened her with no issues what so ever other than readjusting the battery a tiny bit. I found out if you place it closes to the the engine the better she handled.

I would recommend this foamy to any new pilot, you will learn alot and be able to really appreciate what you have built once it is complete.
