We have been working on some new product to fit the 2.4 radio's. The latest thing is the 2.4 Wind Direction Aerial. I have come out with something that works well to replace the old antenna that we all came to like with that ribbon at the end.

This streamline part fits on the back of the transmitter with two sided tape nicely. The Aerial is a 3/16 white fiberglass rod that fits into the base. It can easily be removed for transport. With the tape ribbon at the top and the wind blowing ever so slightly you always know which way the thermal is going.

I started off with a 18" aerial for the DLG guys. I will be adding a 24" aerial to the list as well. These parts and all of our other accessories can be found at http://www.mmglidertech.com/accessories.php

We have 18" & 24" in stock at this time!

How bad can it be when your friends (The Futaba Boys) are teaching your timer (My kid) the strategic art of thermal hunting. Oh and the best one of all was when Andy sent Matthew to go under cover to sky on your competitors landings to see if he made it or not! My hats is off to the both Edger and his timer Andy for helping out spotting air. Teaming up with them was like flying at the home field with the boys on a fun fly day! Standing atop of the first place box was amazing with all cheering on! Keith is a true sports men! It can't get any better than that having my son be there timing for me. He did a fabulous job and was learning to spot when the plane was lifting. He played the biggest part in how I was flying on Saturday morning. I find myself looking more at what I need to do before I get up to the flight line with him there. Later I realized that I am flying with a clear state of mind do to the calm tone of his voice. He has learned to spot other planes in lift just before it's time to launch. This is on top of my list of the best time ever with my kid as a father & son flying week end trip!

We had a great time and already look forward to next year! ; )

I picked up a new toy at the AMA show. I got me a Nieuport 17 from Eflight at the Highland hobby both. Nice people.

Opened the box in the shop and looked at what was needed to get it in the air. Looking around I had most everything. It went together pretty fast. The hard part was that it was one of the most fragile planes I had ever worked on in a long time. The wings went together and then you had to thread line in the wing to hold the dihedral in place. Different but it work well. I think that the cool part of this model is that the motor is mounted to the Emotor. This makes it turn when under power.

First flight: I went over to the school that we fly at. It was right before dark with just enough light to see the plane in the sky. Did a preflight check and al seemed OK. As I powered up to do a roll out it lifted right off the ground. With no time at all it was in the air. Did a control check to test that I had it all dialed in right. Turned down wind and added power to climb out. For such a small motor it has lots of power. Did four or five turns around the field I wanted to land to see how the sink rate was like. Chopped power and it started to nose over with a short glide path. That told me it we nose heavy. I had to add power to get it to the right landing spot on the dirt. I didn't want to land it the grass and flip it over. I was thinking about the fragile air frame. I may have to add weight to the tail to CG it. I charged up a battery and went out for a full test flight. It went even better than the last. Full power this thing will go vertical.

Over view: Great plane and looks great in the air. I like my new toy!

New product from M M Glider Tech

We are announcing that we are now manufacturing 2.4 Whisker Mounts. These mounts are made for the non 2.4 friendly carbon fuse. As you now know that the antenna must be protruding through the fuse to get signal. With this new Whisker Mount it can be done with a cleaner aerodynamic look to it! The antenna hole is drilled to 1/16" size on a 45 degree angel with the high point of the part in front of the exit hole. This will allow for contact with out damage to the antenna. They are also small enough to fit on any DLG glider. The kit will come with four parts already mounted on a strip of sticky film. We estimate the cost at $3.50 + $2 shipping. They will be available soon only at mmglidertech.com

I have been trying to get the instructions written but with no luck.

Here are some photos to get you started!

NOTE! Before you start find the root end of the main spar! This end will only fit the joiner.

Side Note! After you have it all built coat the ribs in front of the the triangle with thin CA to stiffen them up for covering. Don't forget to sand them smooth after!

You will have two S-1 ribs left over to add to the fin after CG trim is found.
Discard the S-15 and S-16.

I am one happy Dad! Last Thursday at Temple hill my son (12 years old) Soloed with has wing. This was one of those days I have been waiting for for a really long time like a little over 12 years! The other one was when he reeled in a bigger fish than I did on one of our fishing trips. Well that's another story. Back to this story, he won a wing at a raffle somewhere. It took some time to get it together but he got it ready last year. I was waiting for the right time and the wind. I pulled a little one over on him I forgot to tell him about the hike. That is one draw back about the good slopes!

The tail mod is separate from the original kit.
We are still working out all the details to make
it prefect and will hope to have it soon.
The photo below is a prototype of what is to come.
