Just getting the thread started before heading out for flying. Likely the wind has shifted so I'll be loading content here in a few.
Just some working pics from yesterday. Will fill in better in a bit.

I started looking it over yesterday and getting to know it and what I need to do. It smelled "green" yet so I wonder how old or new it may be. It looks great, 2 bays cut out, nice wire tube, small starter cut-outs for servos and good parts included. Found the 2 known threads, one is more about sticking motors on it, ain't my thing! The other is better about the build. One of the first things I learn is even though at first look, you think you should have plenty of room for gear... not so much the case when you start figuring config of bats, servos, servo size verses voltage and torque, rx, carbon and antennas! Almost everyone has gotta do some cutting and tunneling to get it to config. And I will need to as well, just can't get what I want from the build without some mods.

The carbon and Kevlar look great but as I am finding out, either and both have their issues for layup, final pull from mold and flight prep for finish. Trailing edges have a swell from the trim cut from the mold pull. Can't sand it or file it... gotta use a razor knife to bevel trim the swell. Not a problem I guess, just a learning curve. Elevons are bottom skin hinged, look like someone before me has cleared and prepped some but still need to free it up some. And the geometry of the top skin cut...Continue Reading

Well, I'm goin nuts... again!
Can't really do any painting or finish work on the Laser, won't sand on the fuse in the house. Done enough little protos to last me for a few days. I think the bug is finally breaking, got some hearing back this morning!
So here I am fidgeting again, can't sit still... The Hawk! I can tinker with that some! Really wanted to wait a while before it went to the table but what the heck, gotta do something!
Spent the morning working on config of the gear bay, think it will work ok. Been scanning the Hawk thread as well. Some of the builds are down to as light as 117grams! Now that's light! Well, as always, there are things I want and don't need but I'm pretty stubborn about what I want in different birds.
I want vario, rx volts, maybe some other telemetry. Ar6610T is my go to for full range t-lem. I also want more than (1) 1s low power bat. So I have my choice of 2 1s 250mah and 2 1s 380mah. Already tested the different equipment, all will fit. Oh, and 4 KST X06N v6.0 servos in a brick config that works. Would like to have pullies for the tail but intend to test lever arms and see if it works. If not, will have to order some from Armsoar. Don't have any rounds that will fit the 06's.

All are welcome to comment just for the fun of it, to pick on me or even do something cool like give me some fresh ideas!

Fresh out of the box!
Saw the sale price and yup, it's time to get one!
In no rush... yet... to print. But I know very little about printing.
I do know what I got, did enough research to feel very good about the purchase.
I'll post what I learn and do with it.
Please feel free to offer up advice, ideas... anything you want.

Was just thinking... should probably do a test run soon to make sure it is all working as should.
I, lol, don't know how to turn it on yet!
Only person I know that I think could get me started is Doug, if you are watching Doug, let me know!

t's done!
14.66oz
cg at 9.5"
61grams for balance.

I used Space Age Neon Orange on the tip fins, was hoping to git rid of it. Likely going to change them out after first flight.
Also tried a variation of lead feathers bungy cord for the tips, not really happy with the results.
Another issue is the servos, Emax ES08ma2. Not centering, not smooth. Will likely swap those out after first flight.

Overall happy with the build, just not happy with some of my choices! But all can be fixed.
Really curious to see how it compares to the FSST. The Fsst was my first foamy and I really like how it flies even as a rough build.

The Deviant has had 3 test sessions, will need a few more to get it dialed in. Can get it there when Peterson opens up.
The performance is incredible on this thing!
152grams auw. Running 2 1s Tattu 380mah in series. May need a 1/2gram on the tail to get to best cg.

All the birds are done, repaired, reworked, rebuilt, rehinged, waiting for first flights, .... Table has a big bare spot on it! And I'm running out of ceilings, walls, bedrooms, closets to hang and hide all the birds! 'Spose I could try to fit the birds in the cases that I built for some, but that's not a table item.

So what ever I build it's gotta be good enough to earn a spot in the house!

I would like to have at the top of the list;
LASER, prefab foam core, 100" I think, not familiar with this type build but need to do it!
CONDOR, same type of build. 3 meter, I think.
These secondary;
TELOS, eh, not as enthused after dealing with what's his name, could bag it or just sandwich.
Windfree, Libelle 604, Legend 117", Genisis... I should get to this one, Talon, SoS 70", Super Dragonfly, Sitar???. nah, it's over my head for a while yet, oh! the x-wing ty-fighter? The Kranich? 3.3m Reihrer? There is one that Ben sent me but can't remember what it is.
A few others.... Klingenburg? Just got that one.

If I do Laser or Condor, it will be a build thread and I will need input from experienced builders on this type of build.

Please, tell me what you think, which one, how to, build threads on these, anything really... I don't think I can go more than a few hours without something on the table and a plan of action... I could go even More nuts! Lol!

I got this thing a couple years ago from a friend. It was built, servos, battery... I thought it had flown but not so sure it could have flown as it was.
I also think more than one person built it. The covering was done by someone that knew what they were doing, the build and shaping, not so much.
So, every few months I would put it back on the table and see if I could get the v-tail to work, never could see what was restricting it. So back on its hanging string till the next time!
Finally, after the Wedgie was done decided it won't leave the table until it's ready to fly! !
It had two wires from the v to one servo, that had to go along with about 5oz of some really tough silicone! 2 servos in, new wires... still cannot get good function on the tail! ! So, tore the entire tail apart, reshaped the tail pieces, cut new exits for my wires, did my butterfly hinges, patched the old holes and painted it! What ya know... the tail finally works!
So now on to the wing. 2 nice Diamon servos... but poorly installed and rigged, took those out and put in some e-max with much better function and arms, made new linkage that moved without restrictions and again put my hinges on it. Again, now I have all the controls doing everything I want them to!
It had some very long nimh in a 4-cell config, fit well with the single servo, but not no more! So... I made two bats for it. First was the 4 1/3AAA nimh, didn't think it would be enough, made another 4 cell with 2/3AAA nimh, fit was perfect. But...Continue Reading

Kit was intended for pusher motor but I want it just as a lightweight slope bird!

First one of this kind of eps foam.

Span: 34"
Weight: 226grams, 7.97oz
Even at this weight I expect it should be fairly quick!

I am starting the Bluto... amazing how easily I am distracted from my intended builds by the "Shiny Object"!
I am following SlopeMasters 1.0 and 2.0 builds for this, his work is top notch and I shall endeavor to do my best to follow his skills.

Beds are ready, ballast is in and awaiting materials to continue.

Comments are welcomed.

Have some small and light wind birds sittin in boxes and closets, in between builds at the moment so doin some of these quicker builds.
First was the Alula, that went quick!
Then the Shaka, this one takes a bit longer. Says 7 hours in the kit but ya, right! A little more than a week for me but I took a lot of breaks from it.
All the parts are cut but they are tiny, very fragile and a lot of them! I got a B-grade kit, I recommend Not doing this! Most parts were either damaged or broken. All were usable but Wish I had paid a couple bucks more for a good kit! Also, I got an E-fuse kit, didn't know, not by choice, did not know that was what you get! If you want an E-fuse kit, it's nice to have the off-sets built into it. Finished this morning.
Next, probably to the table today, is the F-SST 48". This will be my first actual foam build of any kind other than the Alula. Tom L got me on track with all the right materials and goops!
Then I think will be the Pug. Think it was one of the guys at Horse Haven that got me on to this. Don't know much about it yet, haven't even taken the parts out yet.
I think the build should be similar to the Shaka. Standard is x tail, I did order the V-tail. I like V-tail for the small and light stuff.

When these are done, I will likely get back on track for the Telos, will build my own vac bag system and learn this new trick! I could end up digging out more small birds as well.

Shaka All up weight 212grams.

Worked on the nose cone that had been bashed in pretty good. Pulled it out, stuffed some fiber glass in there and mixed up some balloons on the outside and painted it. Also installed and set up the Rx and reworked the servos and aligned them better.
Should be a fun little bird!

The Virus is ready for flight test so now to the table goes the Destiny Carbon.
When I took it out of the box first thought was this is a well made and thought out bird!
Well that has changed just a few hours into it.
First thing no horns or linkage included, got that taken care of.
Next, to get the tail horns to fit and clear you have to cut the tail cone off!
A quick fit of the wing and I see it doesn't quite match to the fuse receiver reliefs.
It's still a fine bird just not as well thought out as I had thought. I expect it will fly just fine.

When I was building the SlopeMaster a couple months ago, got to know a few of the guys on that thread. One was bnsf, (Ben). He had recently posted an ad that he was looking for a Sun Fair Slope Dart kit. I saw that and was immediately intrigued! Started learning and searching, found that one kit had been sold some time ago but that was it! Turns out Ben has a Print! I saw that and realized that was enough to get some parts made. Asked Ben what he thought, he was all in for that as well!
So Contacted Vic Meeks, https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/member.php?u=258921, and he agreed to start working on parts for us.
Ben and I both got our partial kits today and again, as always, Vic went above and beyond on what he made for us.
And so here we are, normally I would be hot to get started but I have some priority builds on the table and can't start the Slope dart yet but will soon.
Ben will be getting a jump on me and will lead off on the build.

I will post some prints and any related info as I can,

iso

I have to give a HUGE thank you to Ben for making this happen!
And to Vic for making the parts for us!

Latest build on the table.
Hoping to have it done in time for Tri-Cities.
Please feel free to go to the build page and throw your 2 cents at it... I could use the money! And your ideas.

Hasn't flown yet

It has now! It's a rocket!
