Yep Les Amis,

Some of you reading this might think I am writing about nothing. The purpose of this blog is document all my changes so I can come back to it. The reason it is public it forces me to make an effort to be clear and concise and even if no one is paying attention, there is some degree of accountability by virtue of it being public. I do reedit my blogs until I am happy it represents my ideas or facts correctly.

Changes to the ship: The included polyhedral wing joiners will be used to produce more lift. The more the better! The 12 gram wire reduction directly underneath center section that joins the fuse will not affect CG, therefore it will not be re-checked. This change does make it easier to attach the center section to the fuse. After looking closely, I decided not the trim the tail servo wires.

The new 100 amp bullet connectors at the ESC that attaches to the battery seems to be loose. When the connectors were first installed, it took an effort to connect both, but now it just slides in a out. NOT GOOD. The chances of an inflight detachment are very small, however I don't want to risk it. I made a "6mm male bullet primer" which is a piece of tapered wood to reshape the male connector back outwards so there is pressure when it inserts into the female connector. Am I the only one to notice this problem? Also, cardboard and tape will be used since I lost my canopy.

Changes to the radio program: a bit more throw for the UP elevator, (50->75 percent).

1 ◄► It may have been a comedy, or it may have been a tragedy .. (تقدير) estimate sth. / etwas einschätzen .. It cost one man his reason, it cost me a blood-letting, and it cost yet another man the penalties of the law. Yet there was certainly an element of comedy. Well, you shall judge for yourselves.

I remember the date very well, for it was in the same month that Holmes refused a knighthood for services which may perhaps some day be described. I only refer to the matter in passing, .. verb (قدر ) = (take into consideration) .. for in my position of partner and confidant I am obliged to be particularly careful to avoid any indiscretion. I repeat, however, that this enables me to fix the date, .. ( fix / أورد) .. which was the latter end of June, 1902, shortly after the conclusion of the South African War. Holmes had spent several days in bed, as was his habit from time to time, but he (emerged / ورد) that morning with a long foolscap document in his hand and a twinkle of amusement in his austere grey eyes.

"There is a chance for you to make some money. friend Watson," said he. "Have you ever heard the name of Garrideb?"

I admitted that I had not.

"Well, if you can lay your hand upon a Garrideb, there's money in it."

"Ah, that's a long story—rather a whimsical one, too. I don't think in all our...Continue Reading

Stair curves are used to divide analog input values into discrete steps. For example, the curve below, named "9st" (for "9 step"), will divide an analog source's output value into steps of -100%, -75%, -50%, -25%, 0%, +25%, +50%, +75%, and +100%.

Stair curves are useful during model setup to collect data for use in calibration of curves that are active during control of the model. Uses include calibrating and matching control surface positions, and calibrating elevator-flap compensation curves, which adjust elevator position for level flight at all flap positions. A compensation curve could also correct changes in pitch caused by changes in motor thrust.

The Ultimate Stair Curve

Curve "9st" above is a 16-point curve with 9 steps that can be used to obtain the data for calibrating a 9-point curve, but OpenTX supports curves with up to 17 points, and more points can mean greater precision when a curve is accurately calibrated. Single stair curves of up to 9 steps are possible, but I'll show here how to set up stair curves with any number of steps from 5 to 17, enabling precise pinpointing of the default X values for Custom X curves of up to 17 points. For stair curves of 10 to 17 steps, this is accomplished by combining two curves.

Here are the two curves used to create a 17-step stair curve. The first one is named "17P". The "P" indicates that it's applied to the positive half of stick travel:

And this one is named...Continue Reading

WL Toys have finally released brushless versions of their highly popular 124019 and 124018 4WD RTR buggies. Below is a fairly extensive preview I've done here covering the new ESC, motor choice, gearing and differences to the brushless version. I also have a fairly well grounded estimate of what the top speed will look like too:

There is also a coupon code in the article for 10% off which brings the 124017 down to $133.

I made a rc plane for the first time.
When i supposed to throttle my brushless motor with propeller after 50-60% throttle motor stops and starts making noise.

Anyone please help me.
My first experience shouldn’t go wrong.

I've just purchased a Spektrum IX20 but unfortunately I don't have access to some functions such as taking a picture ok your model or importing or exporting a model from/to another Spektrum transmitter
I must add that I live in France and the software is in french
Has anyone encountered the same problem?

This evening, I trimmed up some of the wiring harness on my Supra, I shaved off 12 grams. The wires sit very close to CG. Tomorrow, will trim some of the tail wires.

For today's topic, one thing that every pilot worries about is how long you can safely fly your model based on battery capacity. We do have telemetry, but in the early 2000s when I first started RC, the ESC would cut the motor thus saving just enough battery to land. And if you were able to push it more, the control surfaces would get "mushy". I do believe there are individuals who can look at an airplane, feel its weight, and knowing the electronics and battery capacity, estimate a flight time. Indeed, most of us just take a setup that is known to work and go with it.

After setup is complete, there is a good way to estimate battery life based on field data. The CastleLog data file contains such valuable information in the way of time vs. accrued AH (Amp Hour) consumption. It’s like visualizing your battery draining by watching someone drinking from a straw. If you are using the default BEC in your ESC, then everything is present. Available is how many AHs or mAHs have been consumed over time. You can estimate how many AHs will be consumed during climbout. And when the motor isn't running, (typical of gliders), you will know your mAH consumption for your receiver and servos. If does get a bit tricky if you aren't using the internal BEC, then only the motor parameters are available. Other...Continue Reading
