The RC Groups chatroom is owned and administered by RC Groups; publishers of the Ezone and Liftzone Online Magazines and the RC Groups Discussion Forums.
Our aim is to provide a friendly and welcoming area for RC related chat and all are welcome to participate. Years of experience has taught us that some guidelines are necessary for a successful community.
Please read the following guidelines and adhere to them while using our site.
1. This is a family friendly site. Users shall refrain from cursing, posting links to lewd or offensive pictures, text, or other media, or in any other way conducting themselves in a manner that would be uncomfortable for children or the parents of children who browse here. Those standards may be more stringent than you have experienced in other chatrooms and are there to ensure the family friendly nature of the site.
2. Users shall treat each other with respect at all times, name-calling or harassment is not permitted. If you are subjected to such harassment please inform a channel operator, who will take the appropriate action. If you are unhappy with any aspect of the operation of the chat please inform the site administrator.
3. The channel operators are denoted in the list of names marked with an @. These operators are there to ensure that the chatroom is an environment in which users can exchange information and views. In the event that users are notified by the channel operators that their actions are not appropriate they should take notice. The channel operators are authorised to “kick” or “ban” users from the chat room if they fail to take notice of these warnings.
4. There are occasions when scheduled chats with a specific subject will be hosted in various chatrooms. The scheduled chats are denoted by a label in the topic field in the chatroom header. When these are in progress it is good etiquette to keep mostly to the subject of the discussion. The channel operators will always allow a fair degree of flexibility in this, but wholesale disruption of scheduled RC-related chat is not tolerated.
5. The RC Groups forums are an excellent resource of information on all aspects of RC modelling. The chances of finding an answer to your question is far greater in the forums, with a readership of tens of thousands of members. If you have a technical question the best place to put it is in the appropriate discussion forum. That doesn’t mean that you cannot ask that question in the chat, but don’t be too disappointed if there isn’t anyone there to answer it immediately.
6. Many of the questions asked by new entrants to the hobby will have been answered many times previously. It is good etiquette to check first whether the question you intend to ask has been covered in the forums.
Most of all the chatroom is there for all of our enjoyment. So relax, sit back and enjoy the experience of chatting to fellow modellers from around the globe.
