| Excessive advertising (Spam) | We allow one advertisement per week per forum per user. An Advertisement is any media which persuades the viewer to take an action. The classified ads area is exempt from this rule. | 1 |
| Personal Attack | The author has attacked another user's intelligence, character, or appearance. | 1 |
| Trolling (Provocation) | The post contains content which is designed to elicit an emotional response from other users. | 1 |
| Offensive content (Swearing) | The post contains language presumed to be considered offensive by a majority of our users, or the poster has deliberately circumvented the swear word filter by mispelling a word, substituting certain characters, or crafting an abbreviation. If the swear word can be determined by context then this warning can apply. The sole exception to the abbreviation clause is "BS", which is deemed acceptable in abbreviated form only, and only in the context of "falseness". | 1 |
| User Account Violation (User id) | The user's id qualifies as offensive content | 1 |
| Off Topic Advertisement | Advertisements must be posted in a relevant area. | 1 |
| User Account Violation (Malicious Trader Rating) | The user has left a Trader Rating that is designed to unfairly damage the reputation of another user | 1 |
| Copyright infringement | Posted content contains copyrighted material and the poster does not have a license for distribution, or the post encourages or provides access in some way to pirated material. | 1 |
| Overbumping | The post does not contain relevant information and was made purely to keep the poster's thread near the top of the thread listing. We allow two bumps per thread. | 1 |

| Trolling (Group attack) | The post contains an attack against the intelligence, character, or appearance of a group of users. | 1 |
| Offensive content (Racism) | The post contains a judgment of the intelligence, character, or appearance of a race of people, supports a position of superiority of one race over another, or contains humor or other text which would reasonably be considered offensive by a member of a given race. | 1 |

| Offensive content (Suggestive) | The post contains suggestive material or offensive gestures. | 1 |
| Offensive content (Personal info) | The post contains an email address, phone number, street address, or other private information about another individual. We do not allow the posting of this information because once it is indexed by the search engines it may cause a person annoyances in the form of spam, telemarketing calls, etc. Note that it is acceptable to provide the public with a user's real name and general locale (e.g. "someuser is really Joe Smith from Chicago"). | 1 |
| User Account Violation (Profile Field) | One of the user's profile fields contains offensive content | 1 |

Non-sponsors may run contests only if the item has no real value, or if special permission is received from the forum moderator or site administrators. | 1 |
| Offensive content (Flatulence) | Flatulence is when a user brings up an off-topic issue, such as politics, within the course of an on-topic discussion. Please keep all content in its proper place at RCGroups. | 1 |
| Cross-posting | Posting the same content in multiple posts. Note that the moderators may take other actions rather than issue a warning, depending on the circumstance. They may choose to merge cross-posted threads, send cross-posted threads to the Bit Bucket, or take no action. | 1 |
| Trolling (Widespread) | Posting obnoxiously in multiple forums or threads with the intention of distracting the userbase and annoying moderators | 3 |

About our Infraction System
RCGroups moderates online discussions using a sophisticated, highly customized, infraction system. Infraction LevelsWhen a user is assessed an infraction, his "infraction level" increases according to the point value of the issued infraction. Infractions "age" and are removed from a user's infraction level after a period of time elapses. Bans
Users are automatically subjected to a 5 day ban when their infraction level reaches 10 points. If a banned
user causes further trouble upon his return, his punishment is stepped up until ultimately he may be subject to a permanent ban.
In some cases a moderator may elect to issue an "alert" instead of an infraction. In that event, the user's infraction level is not increased. Alerts otherwise operate the same as regular infraction. NotificationA user who is warned or alerted through our system will receive a private message indicating the reason for the infraction. A link to the warned post, if applicable, will be provided in the private message. AppealsUsers may appeal their infractions by posting a thread in the Site Suggestions / Complaints forum, which is monitored by the site administrators. Please provide the administrator with a link to the post and a brief explanation of why you are appealing. Hidden PostsCertain infraction types (such as offensive content or copyright infringement) cause the post to be hidden from view. When hidden, a post may only be seen by a moderator or administrator. Posts warned for other reasons will be collapsed in the thread view and visible by regular users via an additional mouse click. How to Avoid Getting Warned
The vast majority of infractions are issued for personal attacks or foul language.
At RCGroups each user is responsible for his own posts. It is not possible, therefore, to successfully argue an appeal on the basis of what other users did prior to the action that was warned. Quoting an offensive word originally typed up by someone else will still result in an "Offensive Content" infraction. Likewise, responding to a personal attack with a personal attack is not acceptable. How to Report a Rule ViolationEach post at RCGroups has a "Report This Post to a Moderator" link. Simply click on that link to report a violation of the rules. If you report a post and do not see any action within a reasonable period of time, you can escalate the issue by posting a thread in Site Suggestions / Complaints. Please note that while we allow all users to see the Recent Infractions, appeals are best made by the user who was warned. |
