A bit of sanding required
Green boxes show positions of ESC's and Rx
Huge space for lipo
Very thin walled ducts. Looks like 40mm wont work.
You may be able to get 2 of these to fit on top of each other but I doubt it will balance.
A fairly good first up effort at a mass produced micro edf i'd say.
This pic really shows the warped tail. Not sure how to fix this.
Battery tray is tiny. Just as awkward as the 50mm version if you want to increase power levels.
Look at the angle of those tail feathers.
At first appearances she looks fine. But take a closer look.......
I place my fingers on these round marks to balance it.
I reckon its only a few mm of up.
Rear view of elevator at neutral
Trying to show how much up you need for level flight.
The dummy assembly looking very sexy.
Its been very hot here so a bottle of my favourite drop with a slice of lime to show size. :)
2 30mm fans with readily available Turnigy inrunners that i already had which flew my Multiplex Fox Twin EDF conversion just fine. Thanks to Nitro for setting these up and balancing them.
This will probably be where the elevator servo will go. No rudder as the twin rudder will add weight and complexity.
I've decided to do away with the single servo/torque rods for aileron and have fitted 2 servos into the wings.
This is the fate that awaits me if I fail this maiden.
300mm ruler is there to show the scale.
I didn't bother reinstalling the splitter thing. Now its a nice smooth straight shot to the fan.
This is where she balances. It's around 90mm from wing root. Looks to far back to me.
To quote Borat, " It's Sexy Time!"
About an hours worth of stuffing around with some sandpaper wrapped around an aerosol can that was close to the diameter of the fan.
It came apart surprisingly easily.
This is the pic from the forum.
New FMS Mini-Corsair?
Looks like HK beat BH to the punch. The first of many they say.
I couldn't get the stupid camera to focus. The writing says "2830-21-A 8" PROP 11.1V" No idea on KV
ESC is advertised as 20 amp. Typical Hobby King attention to detail.
What a little beauty.
This is just lazy design IMHO
Heres my version.
Here she is after 3 failed attempts at flying and the new motor is fitted.
This is what I'm replacing it with. 110 watts on a 2S. Nice Master Airscrew 7x4
I now have some nice paper weights.
All the bits and pieces
battery tray holds a rhino 1050 2S perfectly
elevator and rudder servos
Nice sturdy landing gear for such a little fella'
This is how it comes. Its pretty much assembled. Servos are installed as is the (useless) power system.
Depron doesn't have that "snake skin" look.
The cells are clearly visible. Depron doesn't look like this.
It's not much but it seems to help alot.
Ever wondered what the inside of a thrust tube looks like? I have fitted a heat sink to help the motor stay cool.
A-4 Skyhawks are said to have very sensitive hearing.
The decals were very easy to apply unlike some other manufacturers water slide decals.
This is the first time ever I nearly cried when i crashed this model. She was my favourite.
Pretty roomy once the elevator servo is removed.
Had to cut the cockpit to allow everything to fit.
Stock elevator controls were tossed infavour of 2 HXT500. While not pretty it offers much more positive control.
Nice clean thrust tube equals efflux speed
Intake showing ESC glued to intake wall
Stock battery compared to my 1800 4S
One of the prettiest shapes to ever grace the skies
Never heard of this company but they have some nice models
Wonder if it flys or is just a display?
I really want one of those little Mig's
Looks like Freewing have a nice F-16 coming. I think it will have thrust vectoring as well.
I'm no expert but is that an F-100 hanging there?
Tiny but mighty. What a great little outrunner.
Paint finish is little rough. paint seeped under the edge of the masking tape and left a rough edge.
The finish is very nice.
The plastic parts are a nice touch. Fan runs smooth and sounds veeeerrry nice!
Battery tray is huge. Thats a 2350 4S. Room for plenty more.
Trial fitted the parts. Everything fits well.
this then slides into the front of the fan housing. A bit like the new Hoffman set-up.
The outrunner mounts to the impeller.
HUGE battery tray. It has a plywood tray to go in as a nice solid mount for the lipo.
Nice intake for the EDF unit
Shame they used yellow. I think white would have been better.
Same pic but without the little lipo that powers the video gear.
This is the mess inside the plane. Its not too bad except for the Tx/Camera/mic wiring.
I moved the servos right to the back away from the video Tx and also moved the spektrum Rx back as well. You can see it hanging underneath.
Thats meant be our dining table but its 43 degrees C here and its much nicer working inside with the AC. Nice table cloth!
I gave it the tiger scheme because it was literally disappearing from view when it got too high.
