Has anyone electrified a Cessna 188 Ag Wagon ARF?
Span 69", Weight (estimated) 6.5 to 7.0 pounds. I was thinking of using a Jeti 45-3 with a 12 x 6 DD prop, and 14 cells (2400 Ncads or 3000 NiMH's.

I seem to have a problem, as I love strange (different) looking aircraft to model.

Both I, and another Portland area modeler, have electrified the Kyosho AgWagon...I like Weird, too.

I used 21 cells with an Aveox with 3.7 box...Overkill

Other guy used 15 cells and (???) motor...flew great

Mine, at 8.25 (heavy cells, and many) was a Super flyer...vertical performance, of course...and I am doing the conversion again, as my Rx batt died during one flight.

It is a Wonderful flying model.

I also find the look very tempting Mine is still awaiting completion. I plan using 12x3000 Sanyo NiMH and a Flyware LRK.

Vincent uses a Plettenberg brushless 300/30/2 and 12 cells of Sanyo NiCd 2400 mAh. Total weight 3 kg.

I can't find the third one, but he used a Koehler brushless outrunner and around 20 cells.

BTW, AFAIK the model is out of production for a few years.

Terry, Which Aveox di you use?

Achim, I can't red German -- Sorry, what power rating were the motors/ Gear ratio? Batteries - sizes etc.

Sorry I don't have anything technical or source oriented to add, gentlemen but I couldn't help commenting that the full size plane seems to fly(or be flown) very much like a stunt model!

I have been a resident of agricultural heartland California for 4 mos. and recieved quite a shock a couple of weeks ago. When walking home from work, this bright, yellow airplane almost noiselessly swooped by from behind some warehouses and over my shoulder. It sprayed the fields around my location and then cartwheeled after its firast pass to make another run. It was doing this at ridiculously low level!

I've also been buzzed over the highway by these Agwagons and it is quite unnerving, trying to eyeball the road & traffic and ignore the "dive bomber" about to cross your path!

Rod - I forget the numerical designation, but it was labelled the "Sport 40" or something like that. When it came back from one "cleaning" (dirt - don't ask), the tag said "1409-3Y. (Senior moment passed, and I Did remember the number!)

Well, I guess I like wierd also. I picked up an Agwagon kit and then asked Tom at MaxCim about a motor for it and he sent me this picture of Allan Teo's in Singapore Agwagon with a geared MaxN32-13D.

That is what I am going to use on mine.

We'll see if I can do wierd or not. lol

The agwagon is gorgeous. The wing reminds me of the Corsair.

I had the pleasure of flying (and busting!) various versions of the Agwagon years ago. It is one of the sweetest aircraft I've flown. Very light on the controls, very responsive and yet stable while on the crop.

Thats it, I'm gonna have to build one.

Excellent choice! I have seen quite a few 40 sized gas conversion fly using the Jeti 45/3 - or the better quality but very similar Mega 45/3 at my field. (The Mega has almost the same price as the Jeti, but is slightly hotter. You will need to prop down to 11x6 or reduce cell count to 12 to get the amps in the 45A wot region). They all fly very well, go for it!

And do drop those clunky noisy gearboxes which are a thing of the past (unless of course you want to swing a huge prop) .

Herb, from what I understand, the gear reduction allows you to swing a larger, more efficient prop. Other than the simplicity and reduced costs of the DD setup, what other advantages are there to running the 45/3 DD?
