Tony65x55 changed the design to a KFm3 because of strength issues with the UC wing. The original BB 42 UC wing plan has since been reposted on page 700, post #10495: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...ostcount=10495 The BB 42 UC wing file is: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showa...mentid=2398997 Build the BB 42 UC at your own risk, wing strength is marginal. For a UC winged BB 42, building it with a KFC wing will eliminate the wing issues. Read the following. BB 42 KFC Note: Springer's hybrid under cambered wing with a KF step and other reinforcements is known as the "KFC" wing and is a very successful solution for putting an under cambered wing on the BB 42. The details for building the KFC wing are here in Springer's How To on page 536, post #8031: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...w#post10669232 Page 10, post #140 has the Blu Baby 33 KFm2 sport wing plan and the instructions for folding it: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...681556&page=10 http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...&postcount=140 The files are: Blu Baby 33 inch KFm sport wing full.pdf (http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showa...mentid=1306284) Blu Baby 33 inch KFm sport wing.pdf (http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showa...mentid=1306285) KFm Wing Fold Instructions.pdf (http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showa...mentid=1306286) Page 51, post #759 has the float plans for the BB 42: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...681556&page=51 http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...&postcount=759 The files are: 42 inch Floats.pdf (http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showa...mentid=1402916) 42 inch Float Parts.pdf (http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showa...mentid=1402915) Page 75, post #1120 has the BBAP2 plans: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...681556&page=75 http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...postcount=1120 The files are: BBAP2 full.pdf (http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showa...mentid=1473462) BBAP2 parts.pdf (http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showa...mentid=1473463) On page 90, post #1346 is the BBAP2 landing gear plan: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...681556&page=90 http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...postcount=1346 The file is: BBAP2 LG.pdf (http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showa...mentid=1508168) Page 115, post # 1724 has the plan for the no camera monobloc for the BBAP1: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...81556&page=115 http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...postcount=1724 The file is: BBAP1 monobloc no camera.pdf (http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showa...mentid=1543339) Page 116, post #1739 has the BB 12 plans: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...81556&page=116 http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...postcount=1739 The file is: bb12inch - tiled.pdf (http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showa...mentid=1544822) Page 116, post #1740 has the BB 33 plans scaled down for a BB 12: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...81556&page=116 http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...postcount=1739 The files are: bb12.pdf (http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showa...mentid=1545064) bb12_tiled.pdf (http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showa...mentid=1545065) Page 131, post #1965 has Tony's enlightening image and instructions on wing folding: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...81556&page=131 http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...postcount=1965 The files are: KFm Wing Fold Instructions.pdf (http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showa...mentid=1576380) KFm Wing Fold Instructions.jpg( (http://static.rcgroups.com/forums/at...structions.jpg) Page 145, post #2163, Tony's brilliant design for a 96" sail plane wing: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...81556&page=145 http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...postcount=2163 The files are: 96 inch KFm3 Sailplane wing.jpg (http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/attac...mentid=1598277) 96 inch KFm3 Sailplane wing.pdf (http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showa...mentid=1598278) Page 152, post # 2277 has a design for a removeable landing gear for the BB 33: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...81556&page=152 http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...postcount=2277 The file is: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showa...mentid=1610402 Page 164, post #2447 has an excellent full scale, one page KFm3 wing parts drawing by Bill Seagraves: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...81556&page=164 http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...postcount=2447 The file is: bb32_kfm3_untiled_p1.pdf (http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showa...mentid=1624317) Page 169, post# 2529, plan for fuselage and monobloc for BBAP1 with KFm3 wing (corrects an incidence issue) http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...81556&page=169 http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...postcount=2529 The file is: BBAP1 fuse-bloc KFm3.pdf (http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showa...mentid=1637418) Page 183, post #2743 has a template for hot wire cutting an undercambered Clark Y wing for the bb 33: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...81556&page=183 http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...postcount=2743 The file is: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showa...mentid=1660511 I've added a Mini How To on building a landing gear to the Tuffy thread. List of KFm wings and step locations.
These pictures only show relation of step on top or bottom not exact placement fore or aft on the wing surface. KFm wings have been built with steps set at 20%-80% distance from leading edge with varying results. Some may have noted a KFC- KFm Under Cambered wing on the Blu-Baby thread. It is the KFm5a variant. Independently two people developed similar designs that worked. One put the step on top of the UC wing. The other put the step on the bottom of the UC wing for the Blu-Baby. They both work and be used on any UC wing. 6-7-08 Xanadu KFm5b 6-10-08 Springer "KFC" now designated as the KFm5a. KFm6 Apache Pilot Last edited by Hopalong X; Oct 03, 2009 at 08:15 PM. |

Making a list of BB motor combos.
Considering the amount of requests received for motor/ ESC/ prop combos we are asked about I will put a list of known usable combos put together by the Pros on the thread.
Some of you Pros can help me collect them if you know where some are listed already in the thread. Let's start with BB-33 and BB-42 but 24's and BBAP's are okay also. There will be no preference given. I'll try to do alphabetical listing or something of the sort eventually so no preference is infered. I will add a disclaimer it is a starting point for finding a power system not an endorsement but is what "WE" use on ours. Might include some links so they can find where to buy. No advertising intended but where you buy. A link to that motor or ESC you use is sufficient not the main page if possible. That way you get the pricing and specs. Post here on the Tony sticky would be prefered. I can delete posts after I transfer and check the links are good. Keep your list to what you use and know works. I don't need someone listing what might or should work for this list. Keep that discussion on the BB thread. I will need all of you to help with this to make a viable list. So comments or suggestions as things develop to make the list better or more easily usable will be appreciated. The sticky is for everyone on RCG just as Tony's planes and plans. Props- be specific on props you list with a combo. "Slowfly" is useless with out a brand and part number. GWS EP8040 can be Googled. Adding RS, HD or DD designations can be helpful also. Just using the GWS line as examples. APC brand as I have found also have sizes with several different style props . Thaks in advance Mike Added by advice of : bz1mcr/ Don You have to include battery in the list of sucessful power setups. At a minimum battery voltage is needed. Other battery specs could be helpful too. Many motors are available with several Kv's so you need that too. Last edited by Hopalong X; Mar 30, 2009 at 07:11 PM. |
