HITEC / MPX issued 2.4G system !

Hitec is proud to introduce our new flagship radio the Aurora 9. The Aurora 9 is a “pure digital” 2.4GHz system offering real-time response yet it is also compatible with the Spectra PRO for PPM and PCM Operation. The Aurora is a true 3 in 1 radio with sophisticated programming for sailplanes, helicopters and all kinds of power planes. The Aurora 9 also features a backlit 5.1 inch touch screen display, 30 Model memory, assignable switches and customizable programming menus. With all these features and a price that can’t be beat, there is no doubt the Aurora 9 will become the radio of choice for the most sophisticated pilots.

Hitec is proud to introduce our first 2.4GHz consisting of the Spectra 2.4, 2.4GHz transmitter module and Optima line of receivers. The Hitec 2.4GHz system is capable of converting most existing Hitec Module radios to 2.4GHz and utilizes the latest Adaptive Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum technology. Other features of our system include Telemetry capabilities and our exclusive BODA(Boosted Omni-Directional Antenna) system. Providing the hobbyist with latest technology at an affordable price has always been Hitec’s primary goal, a goal that we have now achieved in 2.4GHz technology.

Mike, but you promised you were gonna name it the SunDog 9!

Unfortunatly I went with the Futaba 10C last July. Happy with it, but really was trying to hold out for the Aurora.

Look forward to read a lot more about it over this next year, and maybe I will have to sell the 10C.

Good to see Hitek is finally getting into the 2.4 market. Have had my faithful Eclipse and Optic for quite a few years now. Even treated them to new Enerloop batteries.

Was on the edge of geting a Spektrum module combo ($110) and think I will wait. Hope Hitec will come out with a nice light 4 channel rx (most of my 20+ planes use 4 channel).

One of the big reasons I didn't jump brands is the motor kill switch on the tx that my Hitec's have. Got so used to using it, don't want to be without it.

Post 122 shows the price at around $430.

While late to the game - the telemetry is ULTRA cool and may win them some share back. Very impressive system.

What means the prices with 2 qualifier ? Does it means 2 receivers ?
If true, at $15-20 a receiver, it's a bargain !!

Dado and Renatoa, those are rf modules to convert the Eclipse and Optic 6 to 2.4 ghz.

The TX and RX combo is still around $430.

Sorry to ask, but when I convert my Optic 6 to 2.4 with this system, will it have (1) telemetry, and (2) if so, which functions?

Obviously I mean combo only the tx module and rx 6ch, not Aurora that is what you call "TX and RX combo", that's a full brand new radio-system !

I'm not an Hitec technician, but I strongly suppose "No telemetry" since tx module only receive from radio three signals: Ground, +Volt, and PPM pulse, nothing else....

My suspicion, too-guess I'll stick with the Futaba/Spektrum module in my Optic 6 until I replace it with Aurora (after the initial reviews come out!).

What I know until now about other systems make me have a bit different picture.
First, the same module is used in both Aurora, Eclipse an Optic.
This implies that the so called Tx module must have also an embedded Rx for bidirectional communication, unless the Rx is in Aurora, which I doubt.
Second, there must be some additional pins in the new module, for the reasons:
- if there is an Rx inside the module, the telemetry data must be output to Aurora,
- the new spectra module is now software controlled from Aurora, channel must be switched somehow
- Futaba has the same approach, a synth module controlled via switches, Hitec compatible, and a software controlled synth module, with additional contacts, for the frecquency control.
If all the above * assumptions * are true, then, maybe the pinout and telemetry protocol will be open or disclosed one day, and, with an additional external box, like Jeti, the telemetry data could be seen on Eclipse / Optic too.
Just guesses, not even wishful thinking

You won't be able to get real time telemetry like with the Aurora when using the Optic or Eclipse with our 2.4ghz system, but you will be able to download the data to a computer with the HPP-22 (not yet available.)
