Formosa II

Stilling working on my Formosa II. I plan on installing a 42-40 1000kv motor. I have the motor mount fabricated and just waiting for the opportunity to install and do some wattage testing. I had to cut back the fuse to move the esc and I opened up the air flow. Should work just fine. I will post some pictures of the mount soon.

My motor mount

I am using a Scorpion Motors S-3014-18 with a Hyperion Z30 motor mount. I am hoping it will balance with all that weight forward. The mount is attached to some light ply and there is also a stick glued in that the ply is attached to.

Testing

I ran up the Formosa yesterday. 44 amps and 645 watts on 4s. With the motor mount is sounds like my Acromaster. The wood mount resonates sound through the foam. Just a little annoying. But - Crazy power. Motor mount looks good AMT.

That is a sweet motor mount. I would like to mount my Thrust 30 in the formosa next. I had a turnigy 42-40A 1050kv. Too heavy. So I mounted the TGY AerodriveXp SK Series 35-30 11 and on my test flight it began to cog and I had to dead stick it. I throttle back thinking the motor or esc needed to reset. It didn't and came in pretty hard bending my aluminum landing gear back. I have nylon bolt running through the aft portion of the main wing through the front part of the battery bay with plastic plates and epoxy to secure the bolt hole. It held up will and just the landing gear bent. I was running a 4 cell battery so at this point I am not sure what happened.
