Well here we go again......

I picked up a Wood Rotor last year and kicked around the idea of having a Rotor build party...
Since I have accuired a perfect glass Rotor fuse so the logical next step is to have a glass Rotor Build.
I would like to get some input from you about the idea of molding the vertical into the mold..
What do you think??

I am thinking pull a couple dozen fuses and have a big build party at my house and everyone goes home with a plane!

Always wanted one of these but just never got around to picking one up or unable to find one. Count me in!

As far as molding the vertical integrally with the tail; I like that idea. It would simplify and speed up the build. Plus, the tails are completely passive on pitcheron planes so there's no problem with running linkages and the like.

The only issue I can think of is wet seaming in that already tight area but then again, you really don't need the extra strength of the glass lap joint back in the vertical. Just spooge up the halves real good back there before joining the two mold halves.

I start work on the fuse in the morning!
I talked to a fellow zoner and he has agreed to help with the molding process, he has a vertical to put on the fuse.

So the plan is to mold the vertical onto the fuse and lay it up in 1 piece, wet seaming is going to be tough, the stinger will have to be lay-ed up separately.

I will post some pictures before I start.

Sounds great Oran! Actually, the stinger doesn't need to molded separately. What you do is cut off the overhang during the layup completely for both parts in the mold past a certain point (where you don't think you'll be able to reach with a tool/too narrow). Just use spooge past that point to glue the halves together just like the vertical area. Hope that makes sense.

It makes sense but so does cutting the stinger off and molding it seperatly so we can get to the wet seam thru the rear.
I WILL NOT cut on anything untill it's discussed more.
I am first going to seal up the fuse and maybe start on the paint if the resin drys enough.
