12x6 on a A30-28S...Wow...that must be for bursts only

3D is basically that...for sustained full-throttle flying, a smaller prop is in order.

I wish this had been available when I purchased my 51". Smaller planes go better with my condo and my C240. May have to put the 51" on the block...

That's a sweet motor. My buddy used it place of a Hacker A30-28S and it was awesome. The motor does weigh about .5 oz more than the Hacker but the power more than made up for it. It also ran very cool.

So a 16M should be a more proper motor for this one ? Im wondering cause if you need a 40 on the 28s the efficiency must be going way downhill with that 12x6 ?
I run a X35 on my 16M with no issues , gets me thinking you know .

16M is over 100g...too big. We don't have any problems with the A30-28S, we've just had problems with the smaller ESCs.

A30-16M seems like a little too much to me......the A30-28S pulls right around 34-37amps & 370-380watts @ WOT on an APC 12x6, depending on the pack. It drops down around 30amps+/- quickly when you get just a click or two off of WOT. The motor seems to handle a quick 5-10 second burst just fine, doesn't really seem to get hot at all.

The A30-28S is about 71grams, while the A30-16M is about 105grams, a big weight increase.

EDIT - Ben beat me

WOAH! This could be just the plane that I have been looking for. I have a Scorpion 3008-28 that needs a good home.

Ok thanks , I was just wondering as I have both motors but been using them at lower Amps/wattages for years . I guess its just the old school thinking with them as the 28s was originally only rated for around 15a continuous and 25a burst .

Thanks . looks like I have everything already then .

We may end up doing the same thing on the GR60XL

I personally think the GR25 on 3s and 12x6 is more than enough for the 40" Edge, and should do fine in the 42 size as well.

If the GR60XL will work on 7s for the 70ish size planes, I will join in on that.

I have a A30-28S on my Groove, but I'm running a 10x5 APC. Will that not quite the omph for this plane? Looks really cool, I might have to forego a SHP and just take the stuff out of the Groove.
