I am leary about doing that. Would rather be a little heavy than forget to set timer and rx die. Only less than 2oz anyway for security.

I am using a Turnigy 80 Plush good up to 6s. I am using the same controller on 2 other 6s 90mm EDF's at 1500 watts and 70 amps and it is rock solid.
If the Turnigy can, I see no trouble with the CC 80.
I have the BEC disabled on the Turnigy and using a Castle Creations BEC.

Weight 5.33 lbs no batteries
Weight with 2-3s 3300 packs = 6.55 lbs
Weight with 2-3s 4000 packs = 6.95lbs

Also, after using a screw on the front of the wings to the fuse I dabbed some clear seal silicone to the trailing edge for structural stability. I don't have the side slats on mine because of weight. Since they don't offer anything but blocking the fan I will try leisure flying for this one.
Where Did You Guys Get 50mm From? My Book Reads 90mm From The Leading Edge.

Flew mine today with great success. 50mm back from LE wingjoint at fuse is perfect CG. I had no problems but I usually make mine about a 3-4 degree nose heavy at CG point. Flew it at first with 6S1P 3500mAh 30C packs that weigh 311grm's per pack times 2. Did good but need more Kv mines 16xxkv supposedly. Will try my 1400kv on 9S next time. But may just get and 1800kv motor and be done with it.

Picture in my manual show's 50mm but written as "IDEAL" CG at 90mm. I flew mine twice at 50mm and it flew great, but I always list mine nose heavy by a couple of degrees. It did tilt back once on the way out to the flight line but I was going a little up hill and the ass squated. Again, I don't have the side fins on mine as I didn't want the exhaust airflow blocked more than it already is.

Grats on the Maiden. I want to see how this performs on the Himaxx plug and play fan/motor combo. That is the direction I am leaning.

The difference between 50mm and 90mm is not something to treat lightly. When in doubt I use the following on-line program and it has worked perfect for me.
