Zagi 400X run times

I just received a 400x as a gift and was wondering what kind of run times I can expect. It came with a 1700 nicad. I have flown it 3 times and each time the run time has improved. This morning I got about 15 min. with throttle management. Is this about the average time and is there a replacement battery for longer times? Thanks for the info.

Hey J.R.-

15 minutes is about right. I usually get around that on my 1700 pack or 12 minutes on the 1400 packs. Or at least I used to, I swapped a 480 motor in there and my run times went down about 30%!

We need to get together and fly Zagis, I haven't flown mine in months. Are you liking it OK?

You should try a pack of the 1700 H4/5AUP NIMH cells. You will get the same run time as the 1400AE's but with a significant increase in rpm and speed. My 1400 pack was my zippy pack till I tried the 4/5 pack the first time. I was kind of shocked that there was such a significant difference in performance. Plus the pack did not drop off much at all from start to finish. This is definitely my zippy pack now.

Hey Tres, I am back in the state of Texas! I maidened it Mon. evening and ran the whole pack and landed it right in my hand! It is really a blast to fly and flys fast. The sound it makes also gives enjoyment while zipping around at about 3 feet. The rolls are somewhat sloppy but I don't know if that is due to the design of the wing or the throws on the servos. A very fun flyer!

Thanks for the info GBR2! Did you have to rebalance after installing the new pack? I know the cg is pretty touchy on these things.

==The rolls are somewhat sloppy but I don't know if that is due to the design of the wing or the throws on the servos. ==

Mike sets them up with pretty tame throws, so that's probably hurting the roll rate. I increased the throws on mine after flying it a few times, but you have to be careful because it'll increase the stall tendencies too.

It is, if you get the CG too far back than the dreaded Death Spiral will become your new landing method Luckily Zagis can survive the death spiral pretty well.

No I didn't have to rebalance or anything. I just put the front of the pack in the same location that I have the front of either the 1700Au (standard zagi pack) or the 1400AE. I didn't notice any difference in how it flew or glided except for the increase in performance. Got my pack from Diversity Model Aircraft.
