MILE HIGH ELECTRIC FUN FLY

OK...you asked for it. All of you people that made it out this last weekend really had a great time. Those that didn't wanted to and those who didn't hear about it want another.

This last one was so impromptu it was incredible. With a little planning and coordination we should be able to really draw a good crowd. In addition, maybe we can get some sponsorship and have some fun events with prizes. Maybe an ugly plane contest or something. How about the most spectacular crash contest. The winner gets a new plane! Maybe a bomb drop for accuracy. Not real ones of course.

The location will be the same but at the same time I am not locked into that site. I will start to get the word out to local hobby shops etc.

A web site would be nice. Do we have any local artists and web geniuses? Any thoughts on web hosting? How about sponsorship? If there are any companies out there that would like to donate something just let me know. wink wink

One area of focus should be promoting our hobby. It would be nice to draw the family and kids into this event. Training morning or something? AMA delta kits for the kids?

I spoke with Keith/Kevin (shop manager) over at Colpar West yesterday - they seemed really interested in trying to help sponser (and go flying).


One suggestion - Though I love the field out there, its not very "family" friendly for those with little ones. Since family members will probably come out to these events, we might want to see if one of the local fields would "rent" their facility for the day to us. It might be a little overhead (which everyone can chip in to pay for) - but to be able to provide stands, staging areas, restrooms, and maybe onsite concessions will definatly go along way to bringing more people out to the events and providing the "big event" atmosphere.

(Sorry - I've ran and produced way too many paintball tournaments, so I always like drawing a big crowd).

I currently host a couple of sites from my home server (DSL connection ain't much but its a start).

I'll be happy to host the site for now, unless we have someone who has serious bandwidth to run the site.

The only problem with that site w/ a lot more people
would be bathrooms and parking.

I will say that the setting is very nice, good central location,
good flight pattern, no major roads near, no rocks on runway.

10 feet of astro turf should do 20 would be better .

Nice location but hosting it and promoting it at a major club field would be better for visibility. Would need to be an AMA sanctioned event. What about the Jefco field?

Or, perhaps you just yank out a couple of port-o-johns (don't know what the neighbors would think) to your present field and let the childred play with the e-fence.

I'll gladly pay to attend. I also have a 10' Easy-Up if you can use it.

Thanks for the input. I've already started working on many of these issues. I do want and will make this event family friendly. The one thing that will make it attractive to everyone (wink, wink) is total family immersion. I think that will be the key to success. Well, that and some good flying weather and some plane old fun.

Count on it! The flying, that is. I sometimes get so busy running the business that I forget how much fun flying is.
