Yeah, I use every hour of vacation every year, so the time is more valuable than money, not to mention its monetary value in PTO.

GT made a good point but so did Frank. What is optimal there I don't know and am not involved in running the team selection so I'll let other folks slug that out. I just wanted to throw in some humor to springboard off your humor.

+1 Charlie. Great attitude. I think some are taking this way too seriously, forgetting that we are just grown men playing with toy airplanes, and for nothing but fun and bragging rights. My wife reminds me of this all the time .

Now if I were an actual contestant at the TS then maybe I would feel differently. But I sincerely hope I wouldn't. Everyone just relax and have fun.

It's all good! It isn't cooling off enough here. I heard it was 113 yesterday in LA Wow! is all I have to say to that.

Thanks Mike,

I predict that two years from now you will be attending the TS contest...

That's a good one. I'd like to whine that I hate cutting my lawn but it hasn't rained here in about a month so I have not cut it in weeks.

Well, its not quite just bragging rights. The players in the game this weekend will be competing for likely partial funding from the AMA not to mention financial backing from the community. That and the whole major honor of representing their country at a world championships. But no pressure here guys.

I flew Delta to IHLGF this year on Delta and check my sportube online. 15.00 this way. I have a Golf Shaft in there so I just said it was golf stuff. So carbon golf shafts 8-) Or sports equipment

Worked for me

Understood and agreed. It would be an honor to represent the US of A, and fun to get a "likely partially funded" trip to Europe out of it. IMHO it still just boils down to bragging rights among our peers in the relatively small RC soaring community. Nobody else cares who the best handlaunch glider pilots in the country are. Just trying to be realistic, and take the pressure off.

Have fun boys!

Anyone planning on going for some beers in the evening? Will there be enough time? Is beer legal in NC? Sunday?

I'm there through Sunday.

Any alternate sign-up location?

I have been asking myself the same question. Sign up is scheduled for Thur afternoon fron 2-5PM. If it does not clear off by noon as predicted we may have to do it at my house. Have not even mentioned that to the better half yet. I will post it here and place a sign with a map at the field if we decide to do that. I plan to go out to the field about 5PM today to check things out.

Any questions or requests for assistance may be directed to me:

For those of you getting on the road. Use caution. The rain today and overnight will be heavy at times.

I would think someplace such as Applebee's would be able to accomodate you on Sun night.
