Big thanks on that.... I got a bunch of pm's yesterday saying I was qualified.
I didn't think I was.... and I'm not.

Nevertheless, thanks for looking out.

Names in black are half qualified. AKA placed high enough at one single day contest and just need to place high enough at a second single day contest (or a two day but the two day is all you need anyway).

... remember you CAN get a refund on your entry fee. Call Colleen, and she can help you get that back.

Copy that.

If there weren't already enough competitors, I might consider sending Tom a note, and asking that the contest I qualified in, but that wasn't registered here, count.

Ryan, thank you.

I will say Ken that it sucks that if you look at the NorthEast states from Delaware on up I think it only Dave Ashinsky that qualified to attend the Team Selections. You were the only other guy in this entire region close to qualifying.( Granted, I do not know everyone and where they live but I believe it is pretty damn close to the truth).

What does that say for this area of the country and DLG or even sailplanes in general.......

Ken, I already asked if the remainder of this year's ESL schedule to be counted for the 2015. I will amke it a point to submit next year's schedule for inclusion in the qualifier system in the ESL.

There is hoping for the next team selections....

If there is a contest you are thinking of attending and hoping to gain qualification check the calendar here:

http://www.f3k.us/page3.html

If it isn't on the list send a note to usaf3k "@t" gmail "dippen dots" com.

For that matter, that is a pretty sweet national hand launch contests calendar. Reference it early and often for all your hand launch contesting planning needs. A person could embed this Google calendar in your club's website etc. Very easy. For info on this please shoot me a note.

Congrats on hitting the nail Ryan! Don't see too many 100s on the scoresheet!

I have a Junior that registered as a Novice. In ESL and our club, Novices do not pay.

Can a Novice earn qualifier points? They fly with us and are mixed into the rounds as any other pilot would. We do not issue Novice awards since we do not charge them to fly.

He is attending our contest under the stipulation that he can gain the qualifier point for attending as a junior and I want to make sure he gets his points.

thanks

Frank

Thanks

Why would your contestant classification system make any difference?

It is an ESL thing Ryan. The reality of f3k gets blurred by the dictum of ESL. same way people confuse the tour with the league.

Hooray a Junior pilot

Hi Frank,

Glad to hear that there is a new Junior in the system. When you mention "qualifier" points, I'm assuming that you are refering to Team Selection.

Under the current progam (which is done for the 2013 cycle) Juniors do not have a point earning requirmement and also do not have to pay to compete in the TS contest. All they have to do is fly in an AMA Sanctioned contest for F3K and they become eligible for the TS. The rules for the 2015 cycle have not been announced by Tom K (RC Soaring committee chair). I suppose the rules could change for the upcoming cycle.

The question in my mind is, how old will the now Junior be during the year of 2015 when the World Championship will be held? If he is 18 during the year of 2015, then he will be classified as a Jr. If he turns 18 before 2015, then he will become a Senior at that time and need qualifying points to be TS eligible.

This is my understanding at the moment concerning Juniors. I don't think there is any consideration of the category that you are calling "novice".

Thanks guys. The contest was AMA sanctioned. I just didn't want him traveling all the way from Michigan to gain eligibility for TS and fail to due to some technicality. Much appreciated.

Speaking of Juniors, if CDs could try to keep an eye out for Juniors and let me know who they are that would help. I have no other way of knowing the age of any pilot. A lot of you I know and I know you predate the invention of antibiotics, but some new names to the F3K scene I have no way of knowing how old the pilot is.

Thanks,

Ryan
