I do need at least 10 committed orders to make it worthwhile.

Sparkey already has the plastics set, so this should not take long after I start.

If you are willing to buy one, please speak up and be willing to pre-order.

Fahim,
If you post something on your web site about offering a pre-order for this size B-24 we may get the ball rolling. It's very hard to even find this thread, and if someone new types B-24 in the search engine, nothing remotely related to a B-24 shows up.... All you get are search results for the letter B or the number 24.... totally useless results!

I would be interested if the price was about 40 more then the current 62" one.

Cheers--Stacker

Chillipecker:

I think you have an excellent idea. I will set up a pre-order page for an nominally 80" version soon. Right now, I am busy trying to get the Hawker Hurricane built, maidened and launched. As soon as I finish that I will spend more time on this one.

I say "nominally 80" because I have to scale up the 62" and figure out what size of box is available for shipping and adjust if necessary. Get some pricing from Sparkey on the plastics. Figure out how much more foam and cutting is required, etc, etc. before I can get a more accurate price together. Only then can I put up a page, as I am sure people would like to know the exact price & shipping before ordering.

Stacker:
I am not sure what scientific way was used to come up with $40, but it is more complicated than that. Here is my logic:

Big bird ARFs are advertised in the mags for $1200 to $1800. Many of them are not very scale, covered with shinny monokote that makes them look like toys. I agree that these are ARFs complete with hardware and finish. So a true scale NARF like ours that can be finished as an authentic wabird, if priced at $600 to $900 would be a deal. I guesstimated at $249 to $299 and that I consider a steal. $40 on top of the 62" is a non-starter, I am afraid.

That got me thinking further. I see the guys on the Giant Scale Elecftric and Giant Scale Gas forums paying the $1200 to $1800 prices for the ARFs. Obviously they have more room in the budgets and may be the proper forum to post your question, Chilipecker. Try it there and see if you get more takers.

First, I need to thank thank Doug for tolerating me using his build log! Of course if it wasn't for his fantastic B-24 build, we wouldn't even be on the subject of trying to get a kit of it. Doug's B-24 is so spectacular to see flying I'm sure many of us wish we had the skill and the time to build one.

Of course, I also need to thank Sparky for making the plastic! That just makes the whole thing a whole lot easier, whether it is for a scratch build or a kit, you know it will look great with his excellent detailed parts!

Fahim, I'll post everywhere I can think of, and tell them to check out your site for details. Thanks to you for giving it a shot! I know you will do it right!

Thanks again to all!!!

Yes I would love to do it, but I know you understand I can't afford to lose money doing it. I really do appreciate your efforts to spread the word and round up as many commitments as you can. Every bit helps
