Which D47 servos should I get for this plane? I noticed there are two different types of D47 servos (D47s and D47 Sub Micro Power)...

Which one did you get for the Binary900, Matt? I want to order the one that could sit upright in the pod.

What do you guys think of these:

I've heard good things about the vg8's... I was using these ones http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbyking/s...idProduct=3714 and replaced the connector to JR style... Though i stripped the gears after a hard catch... Seemed a little fragile to me... I'm also using one in the fuse on a slight angle which has been fine.

I tend to use my Binary 900 as a light wind sloper these days so i replaced the 2.5g servo's with the sturdier hxt500 (which are a great, albeit a little thick, servo).

Edit: HK is now showing these servo's as 10mm wide. They used to be advertised at 8mm wide. The first page of the product discussion backs me up identifying the servos as 8mm.

if you really want a good servo, without the risk to have a bad surprise (bad center position, twiking....) YOU MUST choose a D47.

it's better to choose se normal D47 and NOT the D47S (S from Speed), because the normal D47 will have more tork and will draw less power.

in this kind of glider, if your servos neutral point are not always exactly the same, you will loose a lot of efficiency.

there is also other servo as good as the D47, because they are exactly the same!!!! but i don't know there name.
in this size and weigth there is really few others possibilities

See I don't like that, sorry it can't be a "you must get..." I'm more a guy that "hey, if I don't have this I'll use this.." I remember GavinTussell offering me a deal, get 4 d47's and he'd set me up with a pretty much 90% complete DLG birdie 1.5m span. But I was never able to get that because I never did spend the 80-90 bucks to get the 4 D47's. I mean I'm not saying that it's not possible but when budget is tight, you gotta get what works and still enjoy the hobby.

Although I could get a job haha which is what I'm working on now but school (excuse #1) and confidence (excuse #2).

Anyhow other options are nice that's my verdict (right word?)

it was just a way to say that they work well.

i thinks that for ailerons, you can manage to find others servos, the HXT500 are not so bad but to thick to be fitted in the wings... you must know that the D47 are also too thick for the wing....

but for the elevador, i recommand to put a good one...

Oh yeah, I'm not really making a bad note on the D47's but they are pricey haha for me anyways at this point

Thanks to this thread, I finally got my Binary-900 v1.0 put together; it's just waiting on the D47 servos to be installed.

Looks nice! What do you think about the size of the pod in comparison to like a 1.5meter? Think of it like a ratio. The 900 looks fat to me the pod from picture 1. (this is just a note not a personal attack lol just to clarify)

No offense taken at all... The pod is compact and looks pretty proportional to its over all size.

Ok. I suppose I shouldn't have said "fat" but wide. When I see a model like the supergee2 it would seem that it has a small pod in regards to its wing. But perhaps it's just an illusion or myself haha
