Club Info Boise Idaho

I am new to this hobby and the bug has a hold of me.
I asked the local Hobby store if there are any electric flying clubs here in Boise, Idaho. He asked a couple of people in the store who seemed to be regulars and asked some other staff members. The answer was no there is no electric flying club. I asked if electrics were big sellers and he said not as much as glow planes but they do sell lots of them.
I have met one guy at the school field I fly at and I have 2 friends that now fly with me. This has been in the course of 3 weeks ( Yeah I am really new at this).
I thought I might try and find other people interested in flying electrics here in Boise so we can try and get together and form a flying club down the road. I have no idea about doing this so any help suggestions would be greatly appreciated. As for a field we have plenty of parks here in town and many school fields that are open to the public.
All ages except under 16 would probably need an adult. If this seems unreasonable let me know.
So if anyone is interested please reply here so we can see where the road leads us.

Try...

Jim M. at Boise Hobby. He sells mostly electrics and should have some Boise club info. I fly mostly by myself so have had no need for clubs but maybe interested if something laid back is organized...

fixwingagain,
I don't think you will find an electric club here in the valley. Most of the guys fly alone or in loosely associated groups of 3-5 people. As flipinidaho suggested, as long as it is pretty laid back.... I suspect that part of the interest in electrics is because we DON'T have to belong to a club to fly! This may change if our flying locations become restricted, but there is always the Mountain Home desert, or for those of us in Canyon County, the other side of the Snake River.... I have several friends that fly and occasionally we get together to fly, or swap plans, or whatever. Actually, the best club you will ever have is the Ezone forum. Lots of people to bounce off of, and best of all, we get to hate those guys in Florida in the winter when we're freezing our ----- off and they're running around in shorts!

Laid back is what I would want. No crazy dues or anything like that. Just get to know other flyers in the area.
One thing I would like to see is some of us getting together in the winter and flying indoors at BSU or some place like that. Maybe have some competitions here in the area.
R/C Groups is a great place. I found many of my questions that I had were already answered here. This is a valuable resource. There just does not seem to be that many people in Idaho active in here.

You might consider joining the AMA club over there. It's a good way to meet other flyers. Lots of engined flyers are also flying electric now. For access to indoor sites and/or organized flying events, they're the people to meet. Most clubs have very affordable dues.

I would love to fly indoors especially at BSU. I have been thinking about asking a public school if we could access there gym to fly in. When I first asked if there were any clubs in Boise, I did not get much response.
I only fly small electrics and would have no business flying at a gas field.
I would like to form an electric club here and also become an AMA member. It would seem that most people I do meet who fly electrics are against the idea of joining a club.

I do fly with 2 RCgroup members one who I met on the board ( flipnidaho )

Ok I got off my butt tonight and started to get things going for a club.

Maybe this way we can land a permit to fly legally at night in the parks.

Has there ever been an indoor event here in Idaho ?
