I was doing them off the ground into the wind today, I usually always hand launch this one, but got a little scared after one came back at me in the wind, ground takeoffs were easy, 3-4 feet and it was off and away.

In all fairest the gas/glow planes do have an advantage in the wind for general sport flying like all the guys at my field do. I don't like flying my 42" slick in winds like today's, but the sabre was a blast.

In the air perhaps an advantage but the thing is getting them back down...that's why they avoid the wind...don't want to suffer the embarrassment of knocking the gear off while landing in windy turbulent conditions. To some degree I understand it.

These last couple of posts are probably good examples of the characteristics of this plane that illustrate what I was trying to state about flying this plane in the wind. When in a high aoa with this deep wing it really catches the wind and blows back pretty good. Not that this can't be fun and used for various maneuvers and such, but if your not ready for it, it can catch you by surprise. Like the time it blew back on me in an unexpected gust[probably about a 20 mph gust] and it went over my head, and before I could reorient myself it came down into the hood of my brand new car. After that I just quit flying in that bad of a wind. Luckily it didn't damage the car so bad that I couldn't buff out the small scratches. But if it had been someone elses car I would have had a problem. One good thing, now that you guy's have me pumped to try it in the wind again, I do have a much larger field to fly at that is pretty much abandoned all the time so it shouldn't matter how much I get blown around.

You asked for it, you got it. Yet another video. We shot this with an iphone and did not use any zoom so try full screen. It was windy and turbulent so I wasn't flying that close to the ground but you get the idea.

Value Hobby 35" Sabre (1 min 59 sec)

Nice vids, now I feel like I can't wait to do a winter build I might have to get after it now. My motor and esc are going to be delivered today. I really miss how fun this thing is.

Does it need 65's all the way around?
MG on rudder obviously.

i originally had TowerPro MG90s. It was a little tail heavy and didn't center well on the ailerons. So i tried out the Emax Digitals and those were terrible. Jittering issues on center especially on the elevator. I had Wulf look at it and he agreed it wasn't a setup issue. Valuehobby replaced them twice (i'm still waiting on the 2nd replacement). I asked them to junk the Emax Digitals and send me some PowerHD replacements.

In the mean time, i've put HS65MGs in the tail. They work great. You really do get what you pay for. I don't think you need 65s all the way around. I'm still using 65mgs in the tail and the emax digitals on the wing. The right aileron still jitters a bit but it's not bad. I'll never use Emax digital servos again though.
