How heavy are your FPV easystars?

What kinda gear are ye carrying?
Any comments on performance?

Trying to get a handle on the payload carrying capacity of the ez.

Attempted to fly a fully loaded ez with a 3AH 3cell LIPO a few months back- needless to say she flw like a brick LOL...

There is an old saying, an Easystar is too heavy to fly, only when it takes two people to lift it.

Mine was 1.2kg, hated it, mushy and wobbly. Also, add some strapping tape to the wings as they can break if it is too heavy.

Mine came out at 723 grams ready to fly with the following gear...
TP Prolite 3S2000 and 2S800 to run the camera and transmitter.
Castle Creations 7 channel RX
Castle Creation Phoenix 25
200mw 2.4 TX, KX-131
AXI 2208/26
pan and tilt servos
HS-81 on rudder and elevator.
Here's a picture from when I built in in 2006..

My easystar flies well and weighs a tonne. 90gram eflite six series brushless motor, 45 amp Castle Creations speed control, 300 gram 4000maH battery, the aiptek 1080p HD camera, 800maH battery for range video 1W transmitter, etc. The easystar has a huge payload with all this can easily take off from the ground. Just reinforce everything on the fuselage and nose with straping tape and use a 1 metre carbon fiber wing spar versus the fiberglass one provided through the wings. I ran this fiberglass wing spar through the fuselage. Down the side of the nose and cockpit I glued and straped carbon fiber strips. Make sure the Centre of Gravity is in the right place when fully laden.

Mine weighs about a pound and a half, maybe two pounds, not shure, it's got a seven by five prop, it's hauling around a FPV camera in a cast iron case, a 400milliwatt transmitter, a arkbird autopilot, lots of hot glue and epoxy, and balances out perfectly on a 3Kah lipo battery (3,000mah 3s) and I get 30 minutes on the stock motor.

30 minutes is not hard with 3300mah, but I found it was the launching that went to crap at such heavy weight - IIRC mine was about 1.2Kg. I had park480 1320kv 8x4 prop. I have heard of guys running as much as 10kmah or even a lot more on an Easystar type. I would have to throw it off a 100 ft cliff to launch it with such weight.

Very heavy

And sometimes nice and lite

2200 4 cell works great
And that is lite
Ez 45 min run time
But not fast but ez 6 km away and back

6800 3 cell is heavy but fly long time
And ez fast 10 km away and back fast

I prefer lite ez with 2200 4 cell
