Pete
Thanks for the link; those are some mighty big rockets you have there. It will be interesting to chat with you about them if you are able to come to the meeting.

I have had an encouraging reply to an E-Mail sent to one particular venue. Hope to have more info for everyone soon.

Cheers all

Gray.

It may not still be in the UK in June/July but Duck!Cam is on it's way as I type this to your fair shores. If it makes the rounds and moves on then there may also be a chance that we could get the MNG cam over from the States in June/July if you guys are interested. I would prefer that neither camera get strapped on a 9ft rocket though!! (although if you aimed it correctly you could probably get photos and deliver the camera to the next participant in one flight!!!)

Again, I really wish I could make it over there for your meet....it sucks to be sooooo far away!!!

Thanks to a PM from forum member Ross (ROSSMANS) putting me onto a possible venue for our meeting.

I E-mailed them fully expecting no response or a turndown and was very surprised to have a reply from them. They would be very happy to let us hold our meeting here in exchange for any images we manage to obtain!

Meridienne Exhibitions Ltd is located in the LEAMINGTON SPA region, easily accessible from the motorway network.

Link to web sites:
www.warwickshireexhibitioncentre.co.uk

www.meridienneexhibitions.co.uk

I now need to provide two dates for them for a Sunday in June or July. As any posting on this forum tends to pass off the front page very quickly, I will start the thread on the SCRAPS club forum providing information updates here running votes for months and dates.

SCRAPS forum thread:http://www.rcgroups.com/scraps-south...ographers-421/

I will PM anyone showing interest linking them to this site, if they miss my posting here.

For insurance purposes everyone wishing to fly fixed wing or heli will need insurance. BMFA membership will do it!

Oh lovely part of the world, best Fosse Way pic prize I think.

Well done!

Lots of great pubs, must make a map of them.

Is the vintage Atantic fleet still up the road?? Should we try and arrange a visit?? Cant remember exactly what they are called.

Already excited

Its AIR ATLANTIC based at Coventry Airport (which has given up on "bucket and spade" flying due the crunch) but still in ops use for AA and other aircraft.
AA no longer can carry passengers on the DC3's for sightseeing or flying people to big air displays and back. Pity...but they are a bit long in the tooth nowdays so they are just in use for oil dispersal at sea and freight when required. DC 6B still clanging and banging about on freight as was the Lockheed Electra and Vickers Viscount until last year, although I have not seen them for a while.

Also houses the Midlands Air Museum (Google it).

What do you do with the little woman when you are at the meeting?

Well, Leamington Spa has a decent shopping centre (if the shops ain't gone bust by then (!). Good park, cafe WITH drink licence. Street metered parking (70p an hour or Multi storey in the centre of town (on top of the shopping mall at £1 for 2 hours). Has a town TESCO and an out of town TESCO. SAINSBURY. Quite a number of eateries to suit all tastes. Sat nights the animals are out.

I doubt whether they want to hare down to BICESTER which has cut price shops with designer label gear. (Better keep this bit away from them)...but - its only about 50 mins away at a clip and BANBURY is even closer.Has a darn good market as well but not sure when these days as its been altered as far as I can find out. .( I like Banbury..market has a great stall that sells items useful to the modeller/engineer/bodger AND a great market stall for the gardener...and for the ladies a Debenhams..tarra!). (They have an eatery in a pub with pensioners prices just off the market place.and pretty good it is but quite few places for a meal available to suit all tastes.)

Warwick...the Castle is the best feature. Said to be the best in the UK and well worth a visit and not a bad park across the road..There is also a spot leading to the castle near the park on a main road bridge (nor a modern one) that looks at the castle down the River Avon (that of the bard - "Sweet Afton" ) with the castle in the background. - "Sweet Afton" is also a popular cigarette in Eire as well (Not a lot of people know that). Now this scene will make an absolute dream of a video if done properly as it is the best setting anyone has seen of the castle. Don't all rush at once...the river really flows here and if the old MK or Quad drops in the river ..opps..goodnight Vienna!

Kenilworth. Not much there..a castle.. . ruined. HOWEVER..plenty of restaurants from French to Thai to Chinese etc etc., In fact Kenilworth is well known for eateries also Charity shops..Travel agents & estate agents Plenty of parking. Street and ordinary at £1 for 2 hours. For you Southerners we have a Waitrose. Sainsbury, Somerfield, Iceland!!. They are in process of a £24 million duffing up of the shopping areas. Holiday Inn.

COVENTRY. Big shopping centre. The famous cathedral.. (Not sure of parking prices but has a few big parking areas including 2 multi storeys. Got the lot.

Oh..nearly forgot.

As you will be in in Shakespere country...Stratford on Avon about 30 mins to 45 mins from the venue (average road speed). Multi storey and ordinary. Park and pay on the way out.

So then..if you or the other 1/2 are intestested Google
Kenilworth..Leamington Spa..Warwick..Stratford ..Coventry..Bicester..Banbury

There are quite a number decent of places in the area to lay the weary head.

There's usually something to do at the meeting venue for everyone. Just tell the girls to bring their money.
You , however could HOPE to keep them in check from spending the modelling money - with pasties and beer! Yeah right!

OK Gray?

(IF I think of anything else I'll add to this post).
(I ain't getting paid for this you know)

Bar open Gray!! your round! Mines a pint.

My plan is to leave her at home saves any interference with flying and a having few pints Plus there is no where she can plug her hair drier in in the tent
