Mark / Jim Young:

Will these kits be available to the public soon? I'd like to add it to my upcoming Birthday/Christmas list. Looks like an awesome plane.

I'd assume that right now Jim is grinding his teeth thinking something along the lines of, "I can sell them when my lazy, worthless, slow prototype builder finally finishes the build and it flies." Again, sorry to Jim that I've allowed this to drag out so much.

No much to report over the past few days. I've been down with some sort of stomach bug. Lots of unpleasantness here and I even missed a few days of work this week but I'm doing a bit better now.

HI Tony,

I'm not grinding my teeth, but in general I want make sure I've worked out all of the bugs with a kit before I produce it. Mark has found a few things that I need to correct, and I want to see how it flies as well.

I would not expect this kit for this Christmas, maybe next year as I do want to submit it to one of the Magazines as a construction article.

If you are looking for something to build this year, my LTR-14 Turner Special will be in the December Model Aviation (should be out this week sometime), and I have those kits ready to go.

Any news on the other prototype build, Jim? As I recall he was a bit further along than I. Congrats on getting the Turner kits going. That's a must build! I have to scratch my warbird itch first though...only after finishing the Waco of course. No other build will start until the bipe is done.

Hey Mark,

You didn't happen to get hitched at the Belleza Wedding Chapel, did you?

Right upper wing ready for sheeting and capstrips.

Left hand wing builds the same way.

It's a biplane! Still need to do the LE sheeting and capstrips on the wings, but it's nice to finally see it with two wings!

I've got all the sheeting and capstrips on the lower wing as well as the aileron servo hatches fitted. I've got some time off coming over the holidays so hopefully I'll be able to make some more measurable headway soon.

Lower wing ailerons:

I'm off for the holidays until Jan. 4, so I plan to spend a lot of time on the Waco over the next week. This is that frustrating point in a build where there is a lot of work left to do, but not much visual progress. At any rate, the wings are nearly completed, and as far along as they can be until I get the struts made and the upper wing attachments done. The horizontal stab mounts are permanently attached and the stabs are ready for final sanding. I'm still headscratching about a jig to hold the wings while I make the struts, so I've moved on to making the wing fillets.

Upper ailerons:

Hi Mark,

I know what you're talking about with this stage of a build. Nice craftsmanship so far.

As far as the wing jigs go, you can use the side view of the fuselage detail to make some foam board templates. Don't use the detail drawing of the N struts since the wing spacing is along the angle of the N-struts. If you like I can send you a PDF of a template that will key around the spars.

Happy time off!

Hi Jim,

I'd love to have that PDF! I made a set of depron jigs a few days ago, but as you said...they don't work well because I used the N strut view.

I've got one of the fillets nearly done, but I'm not happy with it and it may come off and be redone. I decided to put it down last night and sleep on it before I did anything rash.

The last of my holiday plans are today, so I'll have less time in the shop. I did get the 1/32 balsa tail fairings on this morning. The holes for the stab mounts were just roughed in when I took the pic.

Nice moulding the tail fairings Mark. And "C" grain too - do you LIKE making things tough?
