RealFlight G4.5 vs Aerofly Pro

Hello folks,

I am new to this RC groups. I have a question for you. What is any difference between RealFlight G4.5 and Aerofly Pro? Any good?

I am RealFlight user for a few years and am considering to order Aerofly Pro but I have a question for you first.

Thanks,
Sword7

You won't get a real concise answer as everyone will have a biased opinion based on their experiences. I like AFPD, but then when I purchased it it was based on the RF3.5 demo which I didn't like. I've used XTR as well and prefer AFPD over that, but again this is just my opinion, and many others will contradict me, which is fine.

Best advice would be to see if the retailer is willing to demo both sims before purchase

I have Aero Fly pro and RealFlight G4.5
Aero Fly pro is old and outdated, so I assume you mean Aero Fly Pro Deluxe?

G4.0 is great but G4.5 has better graphics and flight physics. The only hassle with G4.5 is you really need a NASA spec PC to have all the settings on high and there is an issue that I have with a slight "hang" on the first takeoff with any model, I believe it's a sound cache problem. Other than that G4.5 is brilliant... it has terrain / surface realism, servo noises etc. It's great

That's somewhat of an exagerration.

Any half decent PC with a $100 video card will run G4.5 beautifully. I have NVidia 8800GS card, which I bought for $57 a year ago, and it runs G4.5 on 1900x1200 screen very well--more than 200FPS on photo fields and about 100FPS on 3D fields. Photo fields run pretty well even on low end cards--my 2-year old laptop with NVidia 6100 graphics delivers 40...70FPS on photo fields with somewhat reduced image quality settings, which still yield pretty nice picture.

As for AFPD: it's an older simulators, which is quite adequate for "regular" flying. I wouldn't buy it for $170 (H-L has it "on sale" now), but if you can get a used one for $50 or so, it'll be a great sim for the money.

I'd be interested in hearing about the differences too. I have seen Realflight 4.5 working and it looks very good.

trouble is here it sells for AU$327 which is way out of my price range at the moment.

Aerofly Pro Deluxe is currently selling on special for AU169.95, normally $199.95.

trouble is I've not seen Aerofly Pro Deluxe working at all.

Would it be better to buy Aerofly Pro Deluxe now or wait until I have more money and buy G4.5 ?

$327 for an RC flight sim seems a lot to pay, that's over US$500 at the current exchange rate.

I got Realflight G3.5 (shipped today) for US$109 from Tower Hobbies. RF has a support site with lots of fields and aircraft at Swap Pages . RF's also have online multiplayer mode allows users to fly and communicate with each other.

If you can get AFPD for a good price, do it. Otherwise you really should step up to Realflight (G4 or better). I have extensively used AFPD and was more than happy with its capabilities as a rookie pilot (meaning I have limited real world experience to compare the sim to). I did find the soaring to be less than adequate, but the airplanes are decent in most types of flying, and the helis behave perfectly fine, 3D for both is good. It really is a good sim.

But! I have recently been afforded the opportunity to get to know Realflight G4. Wow What a difference for someone like myself who spends at least 3 hours a night practicing my skills. Had I not been using AFPD so much, I would likely not have noticed the difference, but as it is I can say for sure that the physics modeling is superior in every way with G4. And the slope soaring! Fan-f-ing-tastic! Try it.

Good luck.

Hi. I am going to pop in here and see if anyone has delt with my problem. I started several years ago with the old Gw2. nearly drove me nuts. My objective was to learn to get a real RC off the ground and back on the ground safely. Crash and crash and crash - but eventually I got it. Had its limitations - sure, But I think it taught me a lot that would transfer to real RC when I got to it. then 3.5 came along and I was tied down from real RCing so I splurged and upgraded my compuer and bought 3.5. What a let down. The Airplanes landed they were glued to the ground the minute they made contact. Never a bounce. Never trusted it as a teacher. What am I donign wrong? Page

You just click on the download button

I'm assuming you mean you want to know how to open the file in RealFlight after you've downloaded it. Well, it really doesn't matter where you download the .g3x file to as long as you can find it later. After it's downloaded, open up RealFlight and from the top toolbar choose "Simulation" and then drop down to "Import" and then choose "g3x". Now find the file you downloaded and click on it. You should see a message that says it was imported successfully. Now you'll find it when you try to select a new aircraft. It's in the "Custom Aircraft" folder.
