so what do you think, is a gws edf75 enough oomph for an e-flite electrajet? with 8 cell 1600s?
id love to plant an edf unit between those v-fins.

Been thinking the samething since mines first flight.How about a MINIFAN 480 with an 11t 400 cobalt on 10 cells?A little cutting ,carving and reinforcement at the TE below where the motor sits now that way the fan will be close to center line.

i put a 480 + mega 16-15-3 on the back of mine 4 weeks ago still waiting for my sanyo 2600's to come from the usa, going to use 10 cells, got it out of my f18, should be more fun, covered it in profilm sops the foam breaking so easy.

Nice work! looks like it should really scoot along tell us how it goes.I was thinking of putting the fan below in the dark area on your fus.picture.With the mini fans mounting lugs even with top T/E ,some hard wood blocks for the lugs and lite ply top and bottom of the T/E to reinforce the foam,then some foam removal from in front of the fan so it can breath easier.The lower fin modifide a little for the lower side of the fan but keeped in place to protect it.
Now you've done it my e-jet is sitting on my prep bench quaking in fear.

Here's another idea how about two edf50's or redflame blasters in pods under each wing.

I wanted it in clean air and it was the easy way,and i can go back to a proped mega.
also i don't want that skid on the bottom. very bad weather in uk or i would try it with some cp1300's.
i did have a 16-15-4 + 2:1 g/box with a 9x4.5 prop in it but it found a new home in a crazy 8. just want the wind and rain to go away.

T. I see your point about top mounting the fan that was my first thought when I first started thinking about it.Guess I started getting to deep with the idea.Those fins do hide the fan ok I was just worried about the fan thrust in relation to the aircraft center line.I need to put up a sign in my shop" KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID" things work out better that way.

im just amazed others have not experemented with this plane as it is the easiest to convert to d/f and its so cheap unlike my f18
made of balsa the e/j will take some knocks, still rainning but better for next week end .

I now what you mean the e/j has a lot of potential ,I'm suprised more of those furtile minds out there have'nt jumped on it! I liked the way it flys and it looks awsome scooting along at about 3 ft above the ground .I just would like it to go a bit faster, that would give it a more authortive appearence and impress the slimers a bit more.

I know what your thinking Demolisher, you just not gonna get very many takers on the EDf-75 idea.hehe I think it's just a matter of, if there gonna haul around a fan that big there going with a Mini Fan. And if they want cheap or small power there going 65mm for better performance. with cheap being a Wattage and power being the Vasa. Both out perform EDF-75 in weight and size and Wattage fan isn't really that much more either. Eam sells them for $26 and you just throw a cheap 6V400 in it and your off.

When the Eletra jet came out I put a Kyo fan on it and a Zagi 1700 batt later to change it to a zapped 1300 and 1700 packs both worked well steerable nose gear it will rog less than 200 ft
I had the fan too far to the rear had a bad habbit of tip stalling on low speed turns. Good luck It will fly haven't played with mine in a wile here are early pictures, before I moved the fan.
