Kyosho Autokite XP

Just out of curiosity, does anyone else have a Kyosho Autokite XP?
I've been flying mine for a few months now, and it's always a blast!
It's definitely not the coolest or highest performance machine in my
fleet, but it's fun nevertheless. The best part has to be getting it
to hover, or flying super-tight patterns at only ten feet off the
ground. The worst part is all the crap you have to take from everyone
else.

What crap?
Are you really treated any different?

I have the older Autokite with an OS .15FP. I started with a .10FP but it was a
little weak on this plane. My Autokite looks like the new one except the new
one has dual vertical supports at the front whereas mine has a single support.

I like getting it inverted and watching it flop around. Once it almost went to
the ground while inverted. Once it is inverted and the sail collapses, you are
at its mercy because you have no control at that point.

It is different and most people enjoy watching it.

I have to admit that most of the flak I take comes from my brother and
a few of my friends. It's all in good fun though.

Dan, that is hilarious about getting it inverted! I didn't know if
that was actually possible or if it would stress the supports too
much.

It doesn't seem to bother it and I have done it many times. You have to enter
the inverted position from a one half loop. At the top of the loop just apply
down elevator to get it to level out and just try to hold it! It will not enter
from a roll.

I've had one for about three years now...actually taught myself to fly RC using it. Now that I'm well past it skill wise, I find myself enjoying it's rather "odd" flying characteristics. Nothing terrible, just unique. Have done loops, but have yet to try inverted...will have to try that.

Have found that if get too much speed, the rear edge of the Rogallo wing starts flapping, and that renders the rudder ineffective. No worries, just put on some "G" and it resolves. Anyone else see that characteristic?
