My Pilot

Hi Rich, my pilot was an early Action Man bought from fleebay. It was a bit heavy so I did away with the body and legs, made up a "sausage" from thin blue foam sheet wrapped around a length of plumbers solder. Made the the body from a block of blue foam carved roughly to shape and then dressed him in his action man overalls. After slitting a hole in the seat of the overalls I shoved a piece of dowel up the body to act as a spine and hot glued the head on. I then drilled the hands out and hot glued them to the lead solder arms. It looked so good I then became addicted to buying up any odd bits of action men off fleebay, especially the early 'copter pilots and jet pilots. If you want one let me know. My friend used this and did a similar chop up job http://www.toysrus.co.uk/Toys-R-Us/T...t%280071681%29 By the way if you look at the video at around time line 1:17 you can see something fly off the tail end!!

OK gents, it does seem pointless starting a new thread so I will just add to this one.

New out of the Harris Gyro Skunk works (aka ...SHED) is the Revolver, this has been designed by request and will hopefully go down the route of the Panther.

I know a few have already seen the build thread http://www.modelflying.co.uk/forums/...s.asp?th=83986 A very straight forward build that is almost self jigging, it is using all the same electrics as the Panther. It was going to use the Panthers blades but I need to test things a bit. As you are aware I have been testing a smaller depron version which goes very well, this is based around that model with a bit of 'Gemini' thrown in.

A quick photo of the 'yet to be flown' model, I hope to get it ready for the weekend.

Regards

Rich

I knew that you were up to something, you have been a little two quiet lately. Almost have mine repaired, you are giving me the incentive to get back at it.

VERY NICE Rich,

glad to see your still designing pushers as those are my favorite, I think I am still your number one RPG fan. With Whirlybird gone where can I buy your plans in the future?

Thanks,
Nils

WOW

Great

The finish is beautiful and it is again a Model with "Must Have"- Factor

Hope there will be some plans coming up soon! The panther is ready so far.

Good Luck with your maiden flight!!!

You have manged to raise the bar yet again, another good looking gyro and I can't wait to get the plans. The RPG is still my firm favourite but the Revolver might just change that.

Nils,
As far as I am aware Whirlybird will carry on, I believe Joe has just decided to pull away from things after his short spell with myself and Dave. I will be looking into prices for getting kits cut in the future to carry on with what has been available but I will have to talk with Dave about this as the ones in question are his designs.

Ian,

I got my square carbon tube from the LMS but I have also drawn the twin boom set up. My U/C has been 'borrowed' of one of my RPG's but it is the same stuff that is available from DB Sport and scale. No reason why a wire UC couldn't be made up, I think Andy did one on his RPG.

The mast has been shortened by about an inch or so compared to the first sketch some of you looked at for me.

Gary,

Glad you are getting out and managing to repair your model, we must hook up on Yahoo when you get chance?

Regards

Rich

Wow

She looks amazing Rich.

Yes your right I made my RPG U/C from wire to give some suspension and also I did not have any aluminium to hand at the time.

All the best with the maiden flight mate. Weather is bad down here so not much flying.

Can't wait for the video.

Regards
Andy

I did manage to get out this evening, but not for long. I had several flights as I was playing around with different blade set ups.

It does fly well but needs a little time to get it cock on, here is one of the flights. This flight was fitted with Gemini blades.

Revolver (2 min 49 sec)
