December 2011 meeting minutes

The meeting was called to order at 7:06 pm by club president Chris zangl, with 15 members present.

Secretary's report :
Was read and approved

Treasurers report :
Financial report was read and approved, next years membership dues are being accepted.

Sod farm report :
Sod farm field is now closed for the season.


Quarry field report :
Field is in good shape. T.R. and Tim installed markers to guide plowing of the driveway. field is winterized but fully flyable.


Old business :
Thomas Kowarski from CSC Engineers reported no possible way to run electric to the field, but will back any solar plans the club comes up with.


new business :
A motion was made and approved for a raffle prize budget. we will still be holding the model display but without voting and awards so be sure to bring models to display. VAM membership renewal forms for 2012 are ready to go, they can be printed on line and mailed or brought to a meeting. All members need to renew before March 15th 2012 as this is when current membership expires, however the lock on the field will be changed January 1st so if you wish to fly make sure to renew before then. Indoor flying has begun, see the Oshkosh club web Page for details. Nominations were made and approved for 2012 club officers, Chris Zangl will remain president, Jim Van Linn will be vice president, Tim (T.R.) Miller will remain secretary, and Tim Stadler will remain treasurer, Bob rahmlow (horse Bob) was again appointed as quarry field marshal as well as safety director, and Tom Abendroth was appointed sod farm field Marshall. The 4f (frozen finger fun fly) is again scheduled for the first of January, event will start at noon at quarry field and run until 5pm or we get too cold. The pavilion will be tarped off and have heat. We will be having a few rounds of combat starting at 1pm, feel free to bring any .46 or smaller sized planes to participate but remember to bring a helmet. some volunteers would be nice to help but again please remember a helmet.

January 2012 meeting minutes

Old business :
The 2012 4F was a great time, We had a large turn out with lots of flying taking place. Combat contestants struggled to get the planes in the air at the same time, lost of engine adjustments were needed since most nights of combat were extremely hot and humid no one could seem to get the setup right. There were some planes needing repair when all was said and done.


new business :
Prizes have been ordered from Galaxy for the show and auction. At the next meeting we will look for volunteers for the show. The lock at quarry field has been changed, the new combination can be found on the back of your 2012 membership card. We will be putting together a total project cost for solar at quarry field and submitting it to the AMA with hopes of receiving field improvement money from them. Indoor flying is taking place in Oshkosh see their website for details.

February 2012 meeting minutes

The meeting was called to order at 7:06 pm by club president Chris zangl, with 11 members present.

Quarry field report :
Field is in good shape. keeps changing between snow and grass, you never know if you need skis or not, but Fully flyable.


Old business :
The field improvement project estimate has been sent in to the AMA, for financial help.


new business :
Prizes have been showing up for the show, we are approaching $2,500.00 in prizes. We will also have a 50/50 raffle this year. Volunteers will be needed for set up please contact Tim or T.R. to volunteer. Details will be posted on RCG so check back often. Area clubs have been notified of the show, but continue to put up flyers where ever possible. Reminder the lock at quarry field has been changed, the new combination can be found on the back of your 2012 membership card. The Shawano show is Feb. 26th hope to see a lot of VAM members there.

March 12th 2012 meeting minutes

The meeting was called to order at 7:02pm by club president Chris zangl, with 16 members present.


Secretary's report :

Treasurers report :
Current membership is at 56. Financial report was read and approved, show and auction totals were shown, we are again a AMA gold leader for 2012, we will be exploring other options for the porta potty services for this year.

Sod farm field is still closed for the season.

Old business :
The field improvement project has been sent in to the AMA, it is believed to be approved by the district and is now at AMA headquarters for review.

new business :
It is time again to renew your club membership, please do so before flying. It was mentioned we may not have a ground school day this year for new pilots, rather post to RCG when you would like to train and a instructor will let you know if they can meet you at the field. We had a great turn out for the show with record numbers this year. Every one felt we should return to monarch gardens next year. We will be moving forward with the solar project at quarry field and will have a updated quote for the next meeting. A motion was made and approved to donate $50.00 to the summer reading program. The annual flag day fun fly will be held June 10th at quarry field. The annual quarry field clean up day will be April 28th, please make plans to be there, times will be posted on RCG. A motion was made and approved for funds needed for the clean up day. If you have any personal items in the shed please pick them up before April 1st as we will be doing a complete clean out of the sheds on or before the clean up day. Mark your calenders for the combat test and tune night April 30th beginning at 5:00pm, this is a day to get help setting up your new combat planes, and test fly them. The first night of combat will be May 7th at 5:00pm. Combat is held the 1st and 3rd Mondays of the month, see RCG for details. Also we are looking for combat judges, if you don't want to fly but love the action we are in need of a couple of people who can make a commitment to be at the combat nights to help score the events, contact T.R. to volunteer.

April 2012 meeting minutes

The meeting was called to order at 7:05pm by club president Chris zangl, with 13 members and 2 guests present.

Treasurers report :
Current membership is at 63. Financial report was read and approved, Hyler will again service the porta potty's year. Rent at sod farm has been paid. Members have been slow to renew membership.


Sod farm report :
Sod farm field is still closed for the season. Pin box and porta potty have been installed. Remember to renew membership before flying.

Quarry field report :

Field is in great shape after having been rolled. Remember to renew membership before flyimg.


Old business :
No word on the funds from ama for the project.


new business :
It is time again to renew your club membership, please do so before flying. The annual flag day fun fly will be held June 10th at quarry field, fliers are available. The annual quarry field clean up day will be April 28th, please make plans to be there, times will be posted on RCG. The sheds have been cleaned out and the mower was cleaned up and made ready for the season, as well as the grill. We had a long discussion on the solar project, a group was formed to continue the gathering of pricing as well as information for the next meeting. They will have numbers as well as drawings to present next month, be sure to attend the meeting.

May 14th 2012 meeting minutes

The meeting was called to order at 7:01pm by club president Chris zangl, with 14 members present.


Secretary's report :

Treasurers report :
Current membership is at 69. Financial report was read and approved, a small amount of vam clothing items are available ( this is it for the year ).


Sod farm report :
No one at the meeting has been out to the sod farm.


Quarry field report :
Field is in great shape. Field was mowed today.


Old business :
Sunday March 3rd has been reserved for next years show at monarch gardens.
July and August meetings will be at the fields again this year. Field clean up day went well, a lot of work got done, the shelter was fixed up as well as several other projects, thanks to all that helped to make the field ready for every one to enjoy this year. We received the AMA grant and the funds will go to the field improvement projects.


new business :
Everyone must sign in when flying at quarry field, the first one at the field each day should open the pinbox and install the windsock. Everyone should remember to use the frequency pins at all fields. The c.a.p will at the field June 2nd with around 13 students, Jay will need several volunteers to help out. this will run from 10am-4pm if you have a trainer plane or can just be there to help out please contact Jay. Also we are in need of helpers for the June fun fly, contact Jay or Jim to help with this event ( asap ). Please remember this and the other events are the clubs events. Lets all try to help out with the events this year and not rely on others to do all the work. This is a club, and participation from all members is needed. The solar research is being done, the group will begin posting details and plans as they become available. Combat season is well under way, we meet for combat every thursday night at 5:00 and run 4 rounds, feel free to join in or stop out to watch.

Field is in great shape. Members wanted to thank Craig for tuning up the mower. Members also thanks Scott and Shea Fabel for the gravel and manpower to dress up the driveway in time for the fun fly. thanks to you guy's!

Old business :
Fun fly had a minimal turnout with 13 registered pilots, it is believed that the wind forecast kept many away. we are disappointed that only 2 people had shown up to help Jim and Jay with setup. club participation at the event was at a minimum also. Thanks to Craig , Paige, and Kendra for handling the food prep and sales. The c.a.p day had a good turnout with 20 people, some planes were flown along with some heli's, also a jet was here and fired up for the kids to see. we were unable to get anyone up on the trainers with the weather.



new business :
Jason Dorn needs help with the camp demo for June 18th, please contact him to volunteer. Chris and Joe had some rough plans to share on the solar project, more information is still needed before a proposal will be given. Bob j will hold a altitude limited event at the sod farm on June 16th at 1:00. contact Bob for more info or if you need a altitude limiter as he has some for sale. The c.a.p has another event planed for July 8th to the 13th, they need instructors for a week long training at Oshkosh and fondulac, contact Jay if interested in volunteering. it was stated we will need to clean up and redo the sand box as time allows this summer. Chris will be holding a heli only event at quarry field August 4th.

There was a good turn out for the demo at the church camp, with around 100 kids. Thanks to all who could make it. Bob's glider contest went well, but he also stated it could have been better. The c.a.p has another event planed but we have not gotten news or updates this week.Chris will be holding a heli only event at quarry field August 4th. Scott will be holding a DLG contest September 1st.


New business :
We are invited to fly again at Brennan days July 21st, from 9am till 2pm.

Current membership is at 78. Financial report was read and approved. We have a new insurance carrier, Erie, lower premium more coverage, nice work Tim. We have the library room reserved for 2013 meetings in little chute.

Old business :
The Helli only event at quarry field August 4th went well with 33 in attendance and 25 registered pilots. Old time Brennan days went well with every one having a good time. A suggestion was made to move our 2013 fun fly to the day after Brennan, we will discuss more at future meetings, but seems to make sense since we could hand out flyer's at Brennan and Shioction fly ins, also a lot of people are in the area already for EAA with nothing to do the Sunday before and we might be able to draw in more spectators.


New business :
A motion was made to remove the sign in sheet from Quarry field and approved. Bob will be hosting another altitude limited event Aug 24th at 1:00. The next years c.a.p. training day will be the first full week in July, with more advanced notice hopefully we can get more trainers signed up.

September 2012 Meeting Minutes

The meeting was called to order at 7:10 P.M.
Thare were 8 members present.

The August 2012 meeting minutes were read and approved.

The secretarie's report was read by Club president Cris Zangl and approved. (T.R was out of state)

The treasurer's report was read and approved.

We currently stand at 79 members of which only 9.9 percent attended this meeting.
The national average is 25 percent.

Sod farm is reported to be in good condition.

Quarry Field is reported to be in good condition. The harvesting of the wild grass will be taking place soon. Please do not fly while harvesting is being done within the flyover area.

Old business
There is 417.10 dollars from the AMA that needs to be used within the next nine months.
The solar power project has been tabled until the use of Quarry field increases enough to justify the expense.

Sructured combat has ended for the year with TR taking First place and Jim V.L. taking second. We are planning get togethers to keep the interest going.

New Business

There seems to be an interest in doing some formation flying in the future.

It has been suggested to discontinue the Flag Day fun fly as interest has wained. There were very few volunteers for it this year.
The idea to have a fun fly event the day after "Brenand Days" is held, usually the week before the EAA convention in Oshkosh was discussed.

We are hoping to get a generator next year to be used for events at the sod farm and Quarry field.

We are trying to make a retrieval system to get planes out of trees. Bob J. suggested a survey thread for ideas so you can post them on the forums. A thread will be started for this and for ideas on how to generate member participation in meetings and events.

We are thinking about an awning for the shelter to reduce late evening sun effects.
Winter meetings at indoor flying was discussed.

A post meeting demonstration of night flying lighting was given by Bob J. There was some very goon suggestions made on this subject.
