Onboard Cam on Piper Cub: Early morning flight in autumn

Hi there,
this weekend we had beautiful weather in Japan. Cold and clear air with perfect blue sky. So I took many short videos from various camera positions on the small plane and made this movie. Actually flying quite high we can see the snow covered Mt. Fuji around 150km (90miles) away.

On the youtube page please choose "watch high quality"

RC Piper Cub morning flight in autumn with FlyCamOne2 (4 min 39 sec)

Or download the higher quality video from below.

So, fasten your seatbelt, relax and enjoy the view!

Wow! That was beautiful! Two thumbs up. It was very relaxing to watch, nice slow turns, beautiful scenery...nice flying. What a great landing! Wouldn't spill your iced coffee on that one. ;-)

That is a good looking cub! I liked how you used different views with the flycam too. When you put the cam on the tail, do you counterweight in the nose?

Nice. I'm going to watch it again.

Hey, thanks for the nice comment! With the cam on the tail I used a heavy Battery (3700mAh) which I pushed as much to the front as possible.

Oh man, I watched first before I read your description, and thought I was looking at the United States until the end of the film. I had no idea Japan had such vast flat open agricultural areas interspersed with pockets of forest just like the Midwest. Are those deciduous trees?

I enjoyed watching that video. Downloaded the hirez version and also a very nice tune. Loved the mix of different viewpoints in the video.

And of course the landing made it look like I was staring out the window of the real thing.

Good Job!!

What also strikes me about your video, Cabla, is that it looks very much like a scale flight, very smooth on the controls, scale climbs and descents. Do you use any flight control stabilization on this aircraft, or it is just superior flying skills? Very nice.

I have to say it again, that landing was smooooth! You also had quite a bit of altitude there before that first approach.

No, really, I have not achieve good flying skills yet. The Piper is a friendly plane, with the right trimming and balancing it knows how to fly, not much controlling necessary. And for that kind of video you just need a day with less wind and then patience when you do very slow turns.

Partly I would say, but mainly that might be cedar trees and the like.

I used your tail forward view for my latest video of my Pulse 25e. I really like the way it turned out. Now I just need to get some ground shots to edit in. Thanks for the idea.
