Is there such a thing as a too large esc?

I understand that you need an esc that is has enough capacity for your system but is there a downside to using a larger one. For example if a system normally requires the use of a 5A ESC, is the any downside to using a 10A or a 15A?

Thank you in advance.

I think weight is the only real issue with going to a large speed control. (I like the idea of a little margin for error there myself)

Ditto.
I run Griffin40s on speed 400 stuff all the time just because I have them and they fit.
