Scratch-Build-Off 3 1/28 scale 7 engine bomber, Kalinin K-7
My entry is the Kalinin K-7 at 1/28 scale
wing span = 173.9 feet = 2086.6 inches
1:28 scale = 74 inch wing span, 60mm crew members
Russian 7 engine bomber, last flew in 1933, more information here:
Since the fuselage is mostly wing, I decided to use the original airfoil.
According to http://www.public.iastate.edu/~akmit...foil_usage.htm
the airfoil is TsAGI R-II.
I decided to just trace the airfoil in CorelDraw, bring it into Profili as DXF,export as *.dat to Compufoil. (Thanks to Milhafre and Vintage1 for CorelDraw training)
The Wing and horizontal Stab both have a constant chord main section with an elliptical outer panel.
Compufoil constructs elliptical wings with just the root chord and half span as inputs, so it is not necessary to draw a plan of the wing beforehand.
I am still trying to improve my skills with CAD, so my entry will be mostly CAD with maybe enough time for the build.

I think the Bison's uglier, but the Kalinin is like a caricature of a plane. I kinda expect to see Donald Duck and Mickey mouse pop out of it, followed by the seven dwarfs - one to man each engine!

Fantastic subject! It has been on my list of "Want to" for a while as well.
I lover the Habitrail tunnels from the gear platform to the upper decks.
Love to see this one come together.

guys thanks for the coments.
Pat, The Bison is well ahead in the challenged appearance contest.
Mike, I'm planning on 8 pounds weight with 700 watts of motor. I have a set of 3s 8400 MA batteries for power. I was thinking of having the one pusher at 300 watts and then six 70 ish watt motors.
Ryan, Like the Chinese say "live in interesting times?
Paul, I knew there was something familiar about that cross section.
Geoff, Just trying something different, I was considering the Burnelli.
Darryl, Maybe put some gerbils in there?

Great prototype! You've got me hooked and subscribed! The bigger and uglier, the better...
I see your point on the airfoil. You really little choice since it is such a large part of the character of the airplane. Any more appropriate shape would result in a very unscale-like appearance.
