Carbon coated cowbell?
Maybe someone can provide more insight on this?
Wouldnt the carbon be a better noise reduction than "stuffing with grass and slugs" (sensiblenick, pistibasi.com threadjack)
Or would it just sound more hollow?

It ain't carbon though.

"Cowbells are sometimes popular noisemakers at sporting events, despite attempts to suppress them. In the United States, they are most closely identified with Mississippi State University, whose football fans smuggle in cowbells by the thousands despite a ban on artificial noisemakers by its conference, the Southeastern Conference.[5] Elsewhere in college football, the cowbell can be found at Penn State football games, where it is played with a particular rhythm and accompanying chant."

May the bell be with you.. Were on the highway to bell.. Its a bell of a way to go.. What the bell, here's a pic;

Is there any kind of a kit a person can buy to test cowbells for cleanliness?

Don't forget to take your cowbell with you Alex, you lucky fellow..

Ploof, don't the cows themselves lick them clean?? Perhaps its the element of filth that gives a cowbell its special tone, range and timbre??

So many mysteries, so little time..

Have we got a CG yet?
