New sport jet for 120mm fan the "T-7 Kanawha"

Long time in the making but she flies. A few more test flight as-is, then paint and finishing.

She is:

65" length
61" wing span (lifting area 870 square inch)
~32 oz/ft^2 wing loading
12.2 lbs AUW as flown
E-Turbax fan
1521/1.5Y Neu motor
10s 5000mAh lipo
better than 3kW
SpringAir retracts

As it stands the weather has turned here in Fla today, no video. I have no idea as for top end speed but we guess she cruises around at 75 to 80 mph at half throttle or less. The glide slope is impressive, half of the down wind leg and both approach turns done power off and I had to force her down. I almost ran long into the weeds (almost) on a 600' runway.

Removal of power resulted in minimal speed loss. I have her a bit nose heavy and trimmed accordingly. When she is trimmed neutral the speed should increase. Also, the exhaust is 4.125" for maximum thrust.

Any other questions just ask.

Regards,
Leonard

Hi Leonard

Very nicely done Lot of work went into making that mould. Looking actually at the fuselage, it has a look of a Mirage about it

Is that a temporary canopy, or the actual one you are going to use with the model? I think it would help help to maintain the overall very sleek look if it was a bit more jet fighter like in its shape perhaps?

Just a point of view, but does not detract from a very admirable achievement, any thoughts of the final colours?

Steve,

No colOR selection yet Gonna be orange and something, I can't see much else.

As for the canopy, the clear canopy seen on the plug is a "Great Planes" F-15 canopy. It's been discontinued with none to be found. The black carbon fiber canopy was gonna be the one until you just said something. How bout you do a little photoshop work and give me some ideas. Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Leonard

Happy to do that, stick it on a table with a plain background and give me a side on profile shot?

You can e-mail it to: mailstevehaynes@hotmail.com.

I'm going to try to make it Ocala's EDF meet on the 13th and I'll have my camera. I don't want to hurt you camera man's feelings, but...

Say, did you ever finish that Mirage you pulled a mold on? That was a sweet looking project last time I checked the thread on it. (I'll admit it, I un subscribed because there was no activity for a long time and my subscrition list at the time was getting a little long. Then couldn't find it again.)
Hope your scratch build fairs better than my all wood one did.

This plane is built from the Mirage mold. I did finish the Mirage and it's a quite nice decoration round the house if I do say so

I'm still up in the air about going up to Ocala. I will have better video as soon as my camera guy is available.

Leonard

I remember your build thread from last year. Good job sticking with the program and getting the T-7 in the air. Congratulations!
