RC Shopping at the DOLLAR STORE

I've thought about starting a thread like this for a while. This morning, with the cold weather, a nice hot shower, and a big cup of coffee, I am psyched...so here we go.

With the news of the woes in the financial world, perhaps this is a breath of fresh air to those just getting in the hobby. Even if you buy a RTF (ready-to-fly for just-born newbies), you will undoubtedly find yourself in need of a few tools and construction items as you are assembling, repairing, or upgrading your plane. The good news is that many of these items can be had "on the cheap". Really cheap. Take heart kiddos. There is no need to fear. Dollar Store Man is here.

Let's go RC shopping at the dollar store. Here are some items I picked up on my first excursion. Imagine what type of gift basket you could put together for that RC'r on your Christmas list.

1) Hobby Knife Set - $1. I recently saw this exact same set at a reasonable online dealer for $12.
2) Micro Screwdriver Set - $1. I've seen similar sets for $5 and up.
3) Multi-Pack Multi-Color Shrink Tube - $1. Again, I've seen it for 2x-10x this price.
4) Zip-ties - $1.
5) Velcro - $1. Purchased elsewhere for $3.99

Okay, so there are a few for starters. To make this thread helpful to others, add your own finds from the dollar store.

Disclaimer and rules of posting in this thread:
- Please only include items that are actually found at your standard, local dollar store (or 99 cents store).
- Please no advertising.
- All items have to be $1
- Please post a picture of each item
- The item has to be RC-related...or easily used in RC.
- Please do not include links for comparison to online vendors.
- If you've found any items that are junk, dangerous, or otherwise not even worth a $1, let us know. For instance, if you buy glue that says 'foam safe', and it eats your new foam plane, let us know.

Wheels, buy a toy motorcycle you get a pair. Sometime front and rear are slightly different, then you gotta buy two, and get two sets.

Cheap brushes.

Colored packing tape.

there's quite few good finds at the dollar store, (the Dollar tree around here)

plus second hand stores, I picked up a nice metal makeup case that works great for my charger, it came from good will, they charge by the pound at this store so this case cost me somewhere around a dollar.

I think this is a great idea, I'm always looking for a bargain, and you can find some really useful stuff in the most unlikely places, I'll be watching this thread to see what others have come up with, lay it on us people, show us what you got

oh yeah, one more ting, when I needed to ad some weight to the front of one of my planes to balance it out, I went to the local tire store and asked if they had any stick on wheel weights they would be willing to sell, they gave me a hand full for free. I have enough now to last me a long time.
