I had one of the GY400 I got from the same seller. It worked well and then just went bad . No crash just started up and in rate it kept wanting to spin right and in HH kept spinning left. So I am looking for a long term test. I can't remember , but I think I only had like 6-9 flights on it when it went bad.

So please keep us informed Gino!!

Yes the GY400 was a dud. That was early days and there were few factory 3D fliers in China. I certainly made more than 9 flights with the G401B. So technically it is better. LOL. But I intend to keep using this to see how it goes.

Just got back from the field. Practiced 15 ft flips and some grass cutting. Fabulous morning. I still haven't encountered strong winds so that part of the review is on hold.

Just got my G401B from xmhobbies and I'm sad to say that my experience hasn't been quite as trouble-free as yours Gino. I've got some severe wagging issues. I'm using it on a CopterX 450 with a GWS Park HPX-F servo on the tail. I've tried different delay settings but the wag is still there. I've got the gain all the way down to 35% on both modes. It works ok in rate mode but in HH it is still unusable. Any ideas?

I have mine hooked up to my Belt CP but have not tried it yet. Anyway, what you can do is keep going down on the gain or up on the delay until the wag stops. I was playing around with the gain settings on mine tonight and it did not go out of HH mode until It was at zero. So anything above that is HH, and 35% may be too much. Just a guess. Jim

Use delay to eliminated bounce when stopping a piro abruptly. It is not used to remove wag in a steady tail on pitch pumps.

Start with zero delay. Keep that tail in midstick. Do pitch pumps and slow turns. If there is wag, dial down the gain. If you get this right, then you can proceed with delay. For that do quick left and right turn stabs. If the tail bounces (small wags on each end), increase delay.

Right in the Futaba 401 manual(401B is an exact copy) you DO use the delay with a non digital servo to get rid of wag.

No problem Gino. Thanks to you for giving me the heads up on this gyro. Tried it out on my Belt CP this morning and after some adjustments on my radio and on the delay, got it to working, and it works very well!! Was getting gusty out this morning ( about 15mph ) and it held fine. Just need to do a little mechanical centering, and all should be well. No drift ( as the Eskys do) and very good hold, I dare say as well as the GY 401. The ONLY thing I noticed that was funny is that the piros are quicker one way than the other, and again, that might be solved with me mechanically centering the tail. Will keep all posted. Jim

Running as short a servo arm position as possible will also allow you to run higher gain without wagging. I position mine only long enough to allow full pitch slider travel.

I just received my 401B yesterday and stuck it on my Trex 450.

WOW.

I haven't flown a 401, so I can't compare it to that, but I've been flying the Trex on a Logictech 2100.

The 401B doesn't seem like it's strung out on caffeine like the 2100. Very, very solid. It didn't look like it was struggling at all in high speed reverse flight, and pitch pumps didn't show a hint of the tail moving.

Haven't had strong winds or extreme temmperatures yet to test it against.

I did wind up increasing the Delay to about 30%, even with a JR 3400G digi servo, to get rid of bounce after a piro.
