New plane on the board...but where is the right place for it?

I needed to recycle a wing, and have been drawing up a plan for a sort of golden age style low wing speed 400 geared thing...two versions, one with loadsa dihedral for slow calm flying on 7 cells on rudder, and the other a full aileron design on 8 cells and a hotter motor for mild aerobatics.

First of all, is anyone interested if I zip up the .dxf's and post em along with build sequence photos? It will be a long build for me as I am busy at the moment...

Secondly, what is the right forum? - its hardly equivalent to the sorts of 3D planes people like to talk about in the sport forum, and its a bit too fast for the parkfklyers forum...

?
Anyway, here is a bitmap of the plan so far to encourage feedback.

Sports I reckon - that place needs some class, it's getting infested with ugly BARF funflies and stuff. It's like we've skipped right through all the good and stylish eras glow power went through, right to the ugliest stuff yet.

Take some real photos while you're getting your design sorted - real magazines pay real money for real plans (in a similar vein, virtual mags pay virtual commissions ). Don't knock a little commercialism - one of my designs was affectionately known as "Dereck's first brushless"

Looks a nice job Vintage1.

Definitely one for the Sports Planes forum.

I'll move it there for you now.

That;s a pretty one!

But you have a large stab, but not so large of a rudder?

Also, post the wing plan - just so we can see. If you go for some sort of teardrop planform (Spitfire/P-47 like) it would really be a beauty!

Oh, and I assume your wing saddle has a doubler? That will reinforce the landing gear plate nicely - I might go for a doubler in front of the plate too, say 1/8" thick?

Allan:

The rudder and stab is copied from my original high wing design, and with sensible movement was more than adequate for rudder only operation, so it will be interestiing to see how it runs on a full house implementation. There isn't enough side area or power to knife edge - unless of course someone sticks in a geared mega and some CP1300's, when all bets are off :-)

Doublers are on the wing saddle, yes. That supports the UC and stops it smashing the wing. In a way I would rather the plate tore loose than destroyed the ing LE in a heavy landing, so I have omitted the doublers ahead of the plate for now.

Soho: The original plan was to re-use the old vintage-1 wing...see below.

Sort of moth type idea originally. If you want to sketch out a 'prettier' wing, I am happy to incorporate it in the overall design of the aileron model. This model is designed to be pretty, and a bit of quiet fun. Something you can build from odd bits of balsa and covering, in a short time, and have a little floater for calm weather.
