That is a "raw" port hole.... Copper crimp ring before taking it to the ole dremel disc sander. I reduced the thickness from 1/2" to 3/16" so it would look more "scale". I used a piece of scrap maple with several 1" holes drilled with a forstener bit so they would be uniform. smokin' wood

Very impressive work harry..your model is looking great.

I made up some roof joists and added some support blocks for the 1/8" ply cabin roof. This was epoxied down. Took alot of weight!!
I made up the hinges from 3/16 brass rod and door handles from 1/16 wire. I added 1/4" styrene strip to the roof for the moldings. Fuel vents were heated up brass rod bent to shape. Even with anneling it took some doing. sharp bend! The pilot house is next. It needs alot of TLC. I gather the original mold is going to be reworked. more to come, Harry

You will love this tug Harry when its all done they really float and run great! And are very stable. I miss mine that I sold all the time but I still have 2 kits on hand to build someday.

I had some very nice conversations with Dwight. He was wonderful about keeping in touch on the progress of this kit. He had been having some health issues at the time.
I got the roof gussets made up and installed and just had to start making some of the details

I started "chopping" up the pilot house this past weekend. I cut out the front windows and trim as it was going to be almost impossible to have it look ok. lots of fiberglass slag and air bubbles. I also want to detail the inside somewhat. I had some scribbed decking which I stained and sealed with satin clear for the floor. I used some evergreen styrene to simulate paneling. Fussy work but fun more to come, Harry

Very slick looking build Harry. I like the idea of the copper rings for the portholes and the pin heads for rivets. Looks great. What did you use to make the window and door frames? I can't identify the material from the picture. The fuel vent looks very nice too but I can't figure how you made that sharp bent without crimping the tube. Would you explain that please? Pete

It's a rod...not a tube.
